136 : 6

136. They set aside a portion for Allāh from what He has created of crops and livestock, and say, "This is for Allāh"—so they claim—"and this is for our associate-gods." Yet, what is [allocated] to their associate-gods it does not reach Allāh, while what is [allocated] to Allāh this ends up reaching their associate-gods [21]. Evil is that which they judge! info

[21]. It was a pagan heathen ritual to allocate two shares out of their livestock; a share for Allāh to be spent on the poor and needy. and a share for idols to be spent on them. If a portion of Allāh’s share was mixed with that of their idols to be spent on them, they would not deduct it, saying that Allāh is in no need of it. Yet if a portion of their idols’ share fell with that of Allāh’s they would readily take it and add it on to their idols’ share.
