إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُواْ نَشۡهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
1. When the hypocrites [1] come to you, they say: "We testify that you (Muhammad) are surely the messenger of God." And Allāh 'God' knows that you are surely His messenger. But Allāh testifies that the hypocrites are truly liars (in their declaration of faith)."
[1]. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) is a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics, have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up:
a. When he is entrusted, he betrays (proves dishonest).
b. When he speaks, he lies.
c. When he makes a covenant or promise, he proves treacherous breaking the promise.
d. When he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil, and insulting manner."
He also said: "The worst people before Allāh on the Day of Judgment will be the double-faced people who appear to some people with one face and to other people with another face."

ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
2. They have taken their (false) oaths as a shield, so they hindered (people) from the Way of Allāh. Indeed, it is evil that they were doing.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ
3. This is because they believe, then disbelieve, so a seal is set upon their hearts, so they do not understand.

۞ وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُبٞ مُّسَنَّدَةٞۖ يَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيۡحَةٍ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ
4. And when you see them, their bodies impresses you. And if they speak, you listen to their speech, as if they are like pieces of wood propped-up. They think every cry against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allāh fight them. How are they deluded (from the Truth).
