Al-Jinn

1. Say (Muhammad): "It has been revealed to me that some of the Jinn¹ listened (to my recitation of the Qur’an) and said: "We have heard an amazing reading,
1. unseen spirit creatures, demons
2. Which guides (people) to the right conduct, so we have believed in it. We shall never associate anyone with (Allah) our Lord (in worship).
3. (We have believed) that Allah (God) our Exalted and Glorified Lord - has taken neither a consort, nor a son²."
2. as the pagans claim
4. The foolish one among us (i.e., Satan) used to say many exaggerated and blasphemous words against Allah³.
3. By falsely attributing to Him a wife or a son or daughters or other partners and wrong attributes.
5. We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about Allah (God).
6. And there were some (lowly) men among the common people used to seek refuge with some men from among the jinn (the demons), so they increased them in wrongdoing (denial, sin, etc.).
7. These people thought just as you (jinn) thought that Allah (God) would never send anyone (as a messenger).
8. We have sought the heaven (to eavesdrop there), but we found it filled with strong guards and burning flames.
9. We used to sit therein in positions for eavesdropping, but he who (tries to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him.
10. We do not know whether by this (arrangement) Allah intends harm for those on earth, or their Lord (Allah) intends to guide them to right conduct.
11. Among us (the Jinn) are those who are righteous, and some of us are otherwise. We were following different sects.
12. We have realized that we cannot cause failure to Allah on earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.
13. When we listened the Guidance (of the Qur’an), we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord (Allah) will have no fear of loss (from his reward) or injustice.
14. Among us are Muslims⁴, and of us are the deviators. And whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right conduct.
4. Who have submitted to God after listening to the Qur’an.
15. But as for the deviators, they will be firewood for Gehinnom (Hell).
16. Had they (jinn and mankind) keep firmly to the (right) Way (of Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water (i.e., provision and prosperity),
17. As a trial for them⁵. Whoever turns away from the Reminder of God⁶, He will make him suffer increasing torment.
5. As to whether they will be grateful for Allah's provisions or not.
6. I.e., this Qur’ân, and practise not its laws and orders.
18. All (legitimate) worship is due to Allah (God alone) in the places of worship (and the earth in general), so do not invoke anyone⁷ along with Allah.
7. Whether it is an angel near to Allah, like the holy spirit, Gabriel, or a prophet sent by Him like Jesus Christ, or a saint, or jinn, etc.
19. Yet when the servant of Allah (the Prophet Muhammad) stood up invoking his (Lord - Allah), they (the jinn) would all crowd around him (to listen to the Prophet’s Message).
20. Say (Muhammad): "I only invoke my Lord (Allah alone), and I do not associate any partner with Him.
21. Say: "I do not possess (any power to) harm or benefit you (except by the Will of God - Allah).
22. Say: "No one can protect me from Allah (if I were to disobey Him), nor can I find in other than Him a refuge."
23. (Mine is) only a conveyance (of the Truth) from Allah and His Messages. Whoever disobeys Allah (God) and His messenger, then for him is the Fire of Gehinnom (Hell), to abide therein forever.
24. Until when they (the deniers) see what they are threatened with, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.
25. Say: "I do not know whether that (Torment) with which you are threatened is near, or whether my Lord (Allah) will prolong the time of its coming.
26. (He Allah is) the Knower of the unseen, He does not disclose (His knowledge of) the unseen to anyone,
27. Except whom He chooses as a messenger; He causes angelic guards to march before him and after him,
28. So that He may know that the messengers have truly delivered the Messages of their Lord (Allah). He encompasses all that is with them, and He keeps a precise account of every thing.
