51. You may postpone 'the turn of' whom you will of them 'your wives', and you may receive whom you will, and whom you desire of those whom you have set aside 'her turn temporarily'; no blame is on you 'to receive her again'. This is most proper, so that they may be comforted and not grieve, and that all of them should be pleased with what you give them. Allāh knows what is in your hearts. For Allāh is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing.
52. It is not lawful to you 'Muhammad' to take 'any additional' women beyond this degree, nor that you replace those 'who are now your wives' with any other women26, though their beauty may impress you, except what your right hand possesses. Allāh is ever Watchful over all things.
26. The Prophet Muhammad was known to be a caring husband and family man.
The Prophet would even do chores that were traditionally those of women — he would not consider it beneath him to assist his wife and daughters in such tasks.
He washed his own clothes, fixed his own shoes, and milked his own goat. He would fetch water from the well for his loved ones rather than have a servant fetch it for him.
Another aspect is that — the Prophet married his first wife Khadija when he was young. And she was considerably older than him and a widow. Despite the 16-year gap between the two spouses, Muhammad was reportedly devoted to her, loved her, and respected her judgement immensely. In fact, according to Islam, when he first discovered “the truth” and received the message of God that would lead to the foundation of Islam, he came to his wife and told her all about it. And when she believed his words, she became the first Muslim in history.
53. O believers, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, not waiting for its cooking to be finished - but when you are invited27, enter, and when you have eaten, then disperse - not seeking to sit chatting among yourselves. This annoys the Prophet, but he feels shy of 'asking' you "to go', but Allāh is not shy of 'telling you' the Truth. When you ask "his wives' for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen. This is purer for your hearts and for their hearts. You are not supposed to annoy the messenger of Allāh, nor that you should ever marry his wives after him. For this would be a great offense in the Sight of Allāh.
27. Muhammad, God's messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The rights of a believer over another are six.” It was said: What are they, O Messenger of God? He said: “If you meet him, greet him; if he invites you, accept the invitation; if he asks for advice, give him sincere advice; if he sneezes and praises Allāh (by saying Al-Hamdulillaah), say Yarhamukallaah (may Allāh have mercy on you); if he falls sick, visit him; and if he dies, attend his funeral.”
