ߞߘߐ ߟߎ߬ ߘߟߊߡߌ߬ߘߊ߬ߟߌ ߝߐߘߊ ߘߏ߫ ߣߎ߯ߤߎ߲߫ - ߊ߲߬ߞߌ߬ߟߋ߬ߞߊ߲ ߘߟߊߡߌߘߊ - ߊ߳ߺߊߓߑߘߎ߫ ߊ.ߟߟߊ߯ߤߌ߫ ߤ߭ߛߊߣߎ߲߫ ߦߊ߰ߞߎߓߊ߫ - ߞߎ߬ߙߣߊ߬ ߞߟߊߒߞߋ ߔߘߋߞߎ

Nūh

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 1

إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

1. Indeed, We sent Noah to his people 'telling him': "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment."

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 2

قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ

2. 'Noah' said: "O my people, surely I am a plain warner to you,

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 3

أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ

3. Worship Allāh 'alone', fear Him, and obey me -

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 4

يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ

4. 'He will forgive you your sins and give you respite for an appointed time, for when the time set by Allāh comes, it cannot be postponed - if only you knew."

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 5

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا

5. 'Noah' said: "Lord 'Allāh', I have called my people (to Islam) night and day,

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 6

فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا

6. Yet my calling increased them in nothing but in fleeing (from the Truth);

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 7

وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا

7. Whenever I call them (to Your guidance) so that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their clothes¹, persist (in their denial of Islam) and are puffed up with pride."

1. refusing to look or listen.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 8

ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا

8. Then I called to them (to Islam) openly,

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 9

ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا

9. Then surely I announced to them (the Message) in public and I secretly spoke to them in private;

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 10

فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا

10. Saying, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord (Allāh), for He is truly oft-Forgiving;

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 11

يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا

11. He will send down upon you (rain) from the sky pouring in abundance,

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 12

وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا

12. And provide you with wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and rivers.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 13

مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا

13. What is 'the matter' with you that you do not ascribe to Allāh 'God' due Grandeur².

2. as you disobey Him carelessly.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 14

وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا

14. While He has created you through various stages³?

3. In reference to development of the embryo, i.e., first a sperm, then a clot of congealed blood, and then a fetus lump.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 15

أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا

15. Do you not see how Allāh has created seven heavens, one above another,

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 16

وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا

16. And placed therein the moon as a light, and the sun as a lamp?

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 17

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا

17. And Allāh caused you to grow from the earth⁴ like a plant,

4. I.e., your father Adam, whom Allāh created from clay, and then you live on what the earth produces of grain and fruits.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 18

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا

18. Then He will return you to it, and will bring you forth (a new) bringing forth.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 19

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا

19. And Allāh has made the earth for you an expanse;

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 20

لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا

20. So that you may traverse about therein in spacious roads5.

5. In pursuit of a lawful livelihood.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 21

قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا

21. Noah said: "Lord 'Allāh', they have disobeyed me and followed those whose wealth and children give them no increase but only loss (and ingratitude)."

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 22

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا

22. And they (the idolaters) have plotted a mighty plot⁶.

6. Against Noah, as they sent a mob of lowly people to insult him and pelt him with bad words.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 23

وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا

23. And they said: "Do not abandon your gods 'idols', specially do not abandon Wadd, Suwa’, Yaghuth, Yauq, and Nasr⁷.

7. These are the names of some righteous persons from Noah's people. When they passed away, Satan inspired their people to set up images in their honor and set them in their gathering places, and to give these images the names of those saints. They did this but did not worship them until these people passed away and knowledge of their origins were forgotten, then they were worshipped. Most of our predecessors have stated: After the death (of the righteous persons), they confined at their graves and made images and after much time passed they started worshipping them.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 24

وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا

24. They have misled many. Lord, grant no increase to the unjust except in error."

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 25

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا

25. Because of their sins they were drowned, then made to enter fire⁸. They could find no one to help them against Allāh.

8. The fire of the period between death and Resurrection.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 26

وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا

26. Noah said: "Lord, do not leave out on earth of the disbelievers an inhabitant;

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 27

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا

27. Indeed, If You leave them, they will mislead your servants, and will not beget any but immoral, ungrateful one.

ߟߝߊߙߌ ߘߏ߫: 28

رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا

28. Lord, forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house as a believer, and 'all' believing men and women - and do not increase the unjust except in perdition!
