مەنالار تەرجىمىسى سۈرە بەقەرە - ئىنگىلىزچە تەرجىمىسى- ئابدۇللاھ ھەسەن ياقۇپ - بەت نومۇرى 22 - قۇرئان كەرىم ئىنىسكىلوپىدىيىسى

142 : 2

۞ سَيَقُولُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَا وَلَّىٰهُمۡ عَن قِبۡلَتِهِمُ ٱلَّتِي كَانُواْ عَلَيۡهَاۚ قُل لِّلَّهِ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقُ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبُۚ يَهۡدِي مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ

142. The foolish among the people ^[39] will say, "What has turned them away from their 'former' Qiblah which they used to face ^[40]? Say: "To Allāh alone belong the East and the West." He guides whom He wills to a straight path.

[39]. Pagans, hypocrites, and the unbelieving Jews. Qiblah here they mean the prayer direction towards Jerusalem)
[40]. Prior to the command in the Verse 144, they had been facing Jerusalem to the north.

143 : 2

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ أُمَّةٗ وَسَطٗا لِّتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ شَهِيدٗاۗ وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا ٱلۡقِبۡلَةَ ٱلَّتِي كُنتَ عَلَيۡهَآ إِلَّا لِنَعۡلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيۡهِۚ وَإِن كَانَتۡ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُۗ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَٰنَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞ

143. And thus We have made you a just (medium) and balanced nation ^[41], so that you may be witnesses over all people, and the Messenger (Muhammad) may be a witness over you. We only appointed the Qiblah which you formerly been facing in order to distinguish him who follows the messenger (Muhammad) from him who turns back upon his heels. And indeed, it was a difficult test except for those whom Allāh guided. And Allāh would never let your faith (prayers) be in vain. Indeed, Allāh is Affectionate, Merciful to the people.

[41]. Between negligence and extremism.

144 : 2

قَدۡ نَرَىٰ تَقَلُّبَ وَجۡهِكَ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبۡلَةٗ تَرۡضَىٰهَاۚ فَوَلِّ وَجۡهَكَ شَطۡرَ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِۚ وَحَيۡثُ مَا كُنتُمۡ فَوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ شَطۡرَهُۥۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ لَيَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمۡۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعۡمَلُونَ

144. Indeed We have seen the turning of your face (O Muhammad) toward the heaven ^[42], so now We shall certainly turn you to a Qiblah that pleases you. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah), and wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. And those who were given the Scripture surely know that this is the Truth from their Lord. And Allāh is never unaware of what you do.

[42]. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was awaiting the command to change the qiblah (the direction of the prayer); so he used to look up at the sky.

145 : 2

وَلَئِنۡ أَتَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِكُلِّ ءَايَةٖ مَّا تَبِعُواْ قِبۡلَتَكَۚ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِتَابِعٖ قِبۡلَتَهُمۡۚ وَمَا بَعۡضُهُم بِتَابِعٖ قِبۡلَةَ بَعۡضٖۚ وَلَئِنِ ٱتَّبَعۡتَ أَهۡوَآءَهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ إِنَّكَ إِذٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

145. And even if you were to bring to those (Jews and Christians) who have been given the Scripture ^[43] with every sign they would not follow your Qiblah, nor can you be a follower of their Qiblah. Neither are they ^[44] the followers of each other’s Qiblah. If you follow their desires after the (Divine) Knowledge that has come to you, you are then certainly of the unjust.

[43]. Who persist in denying the Truth and are arrogant.
[44]. I.e., the Jews who face the temple mount, and the Christians who face towards the East.
