1. Ta Ha¹.
1. The Qur’an is made up of such letters from the Arabic alphabet. 6. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, all that is between them, and all that is under the soil.

10. When he saw a fire, he said to his family: "Stay here, for I spotted a fire, perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom or find guidance at the fire."

39. "Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, which will throw him to the shore; there he will be taken by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him, and I cast down upon you (Moses) Love from Me, so that you would be brought up under My (watchful) Eye⁵;
5. I.e., Care, Sight, and Protection.
40. When your sister (Miriam) went and said: "Shall I show you to one who will take charge of him?" So We brought you back to your mother, that her eyes might be cooled (with joy), and that she would not grieve. You killed a man, then We saved you from the grief, and tried you with many trials. You stayed for several years among the people of Midian; then you came here at the decreed time, O Moses.
41. I have chosen you for Myself;
42. Go you and your brother (Aaron) with My signs and never tire of remembering (and praising) Me (and spreading My Message of Islam far and wide);
43. Go both of you to Pharaoh, he has transgressed (all bounds);
44. Then speak to him a gentle word, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear (Allah) and shun evil."
45. Both said: "(O Allah our) Lord, we are afraid of his rebellion and transgression against us."
46. (Allah) said: "Fear not, I am with you both: I hear and see.
47. So go to him, and say: We are two messengers of your Lord (Allah); so send the children of Israel with us and do not cause them to suffer (any more). Indeed we have brought to you a Sign from (Allah) your Lord, and peace be upon him who follows the (right) Guidance (of Allah)".
48. It is revealed to us that the torment will come upon him who denies (the Truth) and turns away (from it).
49. (Pharaoh) asked them: "Who is your Lord, O Moses?"
50. (Moses) said: "Our Lord is Allah, Who gave everything its true nature and form, then guided it."
51. (Pharaoh) said: "Then what about the former generations?"
52. (Moses) said: "The Knowledge thereof is with (Allah) my Lord in a Record, my Lord errs not, nor does He forget."
53. (He it is) Who made the earth for you a flat resting place (like a child’s cradle), and made for you therein paths, and sent down water from the sky; then thereby We have brought forth many species of various plants.
54. Eat and pasture your cattle; there are certainly Signs in this for people of sound intellect.
55. From it (the earth) We created you, and into it We shall send you back, and from it We shall bring you out once again (for Judgment)6.
6. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
“for Allah knows how we are formed, and that we are dust.”
This remind us that Allah breathed life into the dust of the earth. And when we pass away on earth, our bodies shall return to dust. Everyone will experience bodily death. Nevertheless, we will not necessarily have to experience spiritual death. Everyone who calls on the name of Allah alone and worship Him without associating any partners with Him will be saved. If we confess with our mouth that none is worthy of worship but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and that Jesus is the servant of Allah and His messenger , and His word that He cast into Mary, and a soul from Him and that Paradise is real and Hell is real, and believe in our hearts will be saved. Even though our bodies will turn to ash, our spirits can live eternally with Allah. We also have the hope of a new resurrection of the body that we will experience one day as well.
56. We showed Pharaoh all Our Signs, but he denied and refused to believe.
57. He said: "Have you come to turn us out of our land by your magic, O Moses?
58. We too will produce before you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we shall not break, (neither) us nor you, (in) a central place."
59. (Moses) said: "Your appointment is the day of the Festival, and let the people be gathered together in the early forenoon."
60. So Pharaoh went back and settled his plan, then came.
61. Moses said to (the magicians): "Woe to you. Do not invent a lie against Allah (God), lest He destroy you by a torment, and he who invents (a lie against Allah) indeed fails to attain (his desire)."
62. So the magicians disputed among themselves about their affair, and kept the discourse secret.
63. They said: "These are two magicians who wish to turn you out from your land by their magic and to take away your best traditions.
64. So settle your plan, then come in ranks, and he will prosper indeed this day who overcomes."
65. They said: "Moses, will you cast, or shall we be the first who cast down?"
66. He said: "Rather you cast down." Then at once their ropes and their sticks appeared to him because of their magic as if they were moving rapidly (like snakes).
67. So Moses concealed fear within himself.
68. (Allah) said: "Fear not, you shall be the uppermost,
69. Cast down what is in your right hand; it will devour what they have made; that which they have made is only the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed, wherever he schemes."
70. So the magicians fell down prostrate; they said: "We believe in (Allah) the Lord of Aaron and Moses."
71. (Pharaoh) said: "You believe in him before I give you permission; he is the chief of you, who taught you the magic. I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will come to know which of us7 can inflict the more severe and the more lasting torment.
7. Meaning himself and Allah, the Lord of Moses.
72. They said: "We do not prefer you to what has come to us of clear signs and to Him (Allah) Who created us, so decide what you are going to decide; you can only decree (concerning) the life of this world.
73. We believe in (Allah) our Lord, that He may forgive us our sins and the magic which you compelled us (to learn). For Allah is best (to reward) and more lasting (in torment)."
74. Whoever comes to his Lord (Allah) as wicked, for him is Gehinnom (Hell); he will not die therein, nor shall he live.
75. But whoever comes to (Allah) as a believer (and) he has done righteous deeds, these it is who will have the highest ranks.
76. Gardens of Eden, under which rivers flow, to abide therein forever. Such is the (excellent) reward of him who purifies himself (from polytheism and sins).
77. We had inspired to Moses, saying: "Travel by night with My servants, then strike for them a dry path in the sea, not fearing to be overtaken (by Pharaoh), nor being afraid (of drowning)."
78. Then Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, but there covered them of the sea that which covered them8.
8. I.e., not only drowning in water but other things which are only known to Allah such as terror, pain, regret, etc.
79. Thus Pharaoh led astray his people and he did not guide (them) aright.
80. Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and made an appointment with you9 on the right side of mount (Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments), and sent down to you (during your exodus) manna and quails.
9. I.e., with your prophet.
81. Eat of the good things We have given you for sustenance, and do not transgress therein10, lest you become subject to My anger. Whoever becomes subject to My anger, he will certainly be perished.
10. I.e., do not attribute these favors to your own supposed excellence, but attribute them rightly to Allah alone and do not act with arrogance.
82. I am All-Forgiving to the one who repents (from polytheism and sins) and believes (in the Oneness of God) and does righteous deeds, and then continues to follow the right Path (of Islam).
83. (Allah asked), "Moses, what made you hasten (to attend your appointment with Me) before your people?"
84. Moses said: "They are just behind me, and I hastened on to You, Lord, to seek Your pleasure."
85. (Allah) said: "We tested your people after you left them, and the Samiri has led them astray.
86. So Moses returned to his people angry and grieved. He said: "My people, did not your Lord promise you a goodly Promise? Did then the time seem long to you, or did you wish that Anger from your Lord should be due upon you, so you broke (your) promise (of obedience) to me?"
87. They said: "We did not break (our) promise to you of our own accord, but we were made to carry burdens of the ornaments of the people (of Pharaoh), then cast them (in the fire), and thus did the Samiri suggest.
88. So he brought forth for them (the image of a golden) calf, a (mere) body, that (with the wind) gave a (cow-like) sound, so they said (to each other): "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot."
89. Did they not see, that it could not return to them a word (to answer), and (that) it possessed for them neither harm nor benefit?
90. Aaron had said to them before (the return of Moses): "My people, you are only tested by it (this idol), for your Lord is (Allah) the Most Compassionate. So Follow me (in worshiping Allah alone) and obey my order.
91. They said: "We shall continue being devoted (to the calf) until Moses comes back to us."
92. (Moses) said: "Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray;
93. From following me? Did you then disobey my order?"
94. (Aaron) said: "Son of my mother, seize me not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head. I was afraid lest you say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel, and did not wait my word."
95. (Moses) said: "What is then your case, o Saamiri?"
96. He said: "I had the skill (of carving) which they did not have. I followed some of the messenger's (Moses) tradition; but then I ignored it. Thus did my soul entice me11."
11. To carve a golden calf which made an artificial hollow sound. Another meaning of the Verse is: "I saw something they did not see, so I took a handful of dust from the hoof-print of the horse of the messenger Gabriel and cast it in the fire upon the melted ornaments in order to form the calf."
97. (Moses) said: "Be gone then, for you (your punishment) in this life is to say: "No contact", and there is a time for your (final punishment) which shall not be made failing for you. Look at your god to which you remained devoted; we will burn it and scatter it a (vast) scattering into the sea.
98. Your God is only Allah, there is no (true) God except Him. He comprehends all things in (His) Knowledge (and Power).
99. Thus do We relate to you (Muhammad) some of the news of what has preceded; and indeed We have given to you from Ourselves a Reminder (this Qur’an).
100. Whoever turns away from it, will be heavily burdened on the Day of Judgment with sin.
101. Abiding therein forever. Evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load.
102. The Day when the trumpet will be blown, and We shall gather the wicked, that Day, blue-eyed (from horror, or blind with blackened faces).
103. They will murmur among themselves: "You stayed but ten (days in the world)."
104. We are most knowing of what they say, when the best of them in conduct will say: "You stayed but a day."
105. They ask you about the mountains. Say: "My Lord (Allah) will blast and scatter them into scattered dust."
106. Then leave the earth a level plain.
107. You will not see therein any crookedness nor curve.
108. On that Day they will follow the caller (to the Gathering for Judgment), there is no swaying in them, and the voices will be low before (Allah) the Most Compassionate, so that you shall not hear anything but a faint sound.
109. On that Day no intercession will benefit except of him whom (Allah) the Most Compassionate allows, and whose word He is Pleased.
110. Allah knows what is before them and what is behind them, while they cannot comprehend Him in knowledge.
111. The faces will be humbled before (Allah) the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, and he who bears iniquity is indeed a failure (that Day).
112. But whoever does righteous deeds and is a believer, will have no fear of injustice nor of the withholding (of their reward).
113. Thus We have sent it down, an Arabic Qur’an, and have explained therein in detail the warnings, that they may guard against evil or that it may cause them to take heed.
114. Supremely Exalted is Allah, the King, the Absolute Truth. Do not make haste with the Qur’an before its Revelation is made complete to you (Muhammad) and say: "Oh Lord, increase me in knowledge."
115. We made a covenant with Adam before, but he forgot; and We did not find in him any (firm) determination.
116. When We said to the angels: "Prostrate to Adam," they prostrated all except Iblees (Satan); he refused.
117. And We said: "Adam, this is an enemy to you and to your wife; so let him not drive you both out from the Garden, so that you would suffer.
118. It is (promised) for you that you will never be hungry therein, nor be without clothing;
119. And that you will not be thirsty therein or be hot of the sun."
120. Then Satan whispered to him; he said: "Adam, shall I show you to the tree of immortality and a kingdom that never decays?"
121. Then they both (Adam and Eve) ate of it, so their nakedness appeared to them, and they began to cover themselves with leaves of the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord, so he went astray.
122. Then his Lord (Allah) chose him, so He forgave him, and guided (him).

123. (Allah) said: "Descend from it, all of you, being enemies to one another. So there will come to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, he will not go astray (in the world) nor will he suffer (in the Hereafter);
124. But whoever turns away from My remembrance, he will have a depressed life, and We shall raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind.
125. He will say: "Lord, why have You raised me blind while I was once seeing."
126. (Allah) will say: "Even so, Our revelations came to you but you forgot them; and so you shall be forgotten this Day12."
12. I.e., abandoned in the Hellfire.
127. Thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the revelations of his Lord (Allah), and certainly the torment of the Hereafter is severer and more lasting.
128. Does it not then guide them (knowing) how many of the (sinful) generations, in whose dwelling places they pass through, We destroyed before them? There are signs in this for people of understanding.
129. Had there not been a Word that preceded from (Allah) your Lord and an appointed term, it (their Punishment) would inevitably have come to them.
130. So bear patiently what they say, and glorify (Allah) your Lord by the praising of Him before the rising of the sun and before its setting, and during the hours of the night also glorify Him and at the ends of the day13 - that you may be well-pleased.
13. An indication for the five obligatory congregational prayers. Muhammad, God's messenger (ﷺ) said: "The five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiations for the (minor sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins."
131. Do not extend your eyes toward that with which We have provided different classes of them, of the splendor of this worldly life, that We may thereby test them with it. The sustenance (good reward of the Hereafter) of your Lord is better and more lasting.
132. Enjoin prayer on your family (and people), and steadily adhere to it. We do not ask you for sustenance. it is We (Allah) that provide for you. The (best) outcome is (for those of) piety14 and devotion.
14. The gift of piety fosters the following spiritual dispositions: first, dutiful respect for Allah as a Loving and Kind Lord; second, a generous and great love for Him, so that a person wants to please Allah, even if it means making sacrifices; and third, a loving obedience toward the teachings and commandments of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, respecting them as expressions of God’s love for us. As such, a person approaches prayer or worship not as a task or burden but as an act of joyful love; a person adheres to the commandments and teachings of Islam - as difficult as it may be at the time - because he knows they express God’s truth and therefore show the way to eternal happiness.

133. They (the deniers) say: "Why does he not bring to us a sign from his Lord (Allah)?" Has not there come to them clear Proof of what is in the previous Scriptures15?

134. If We had destroyed them with torment before this, they would certainly have said: "(O Allah our) Lord, why did You not send to us a messenger, for then we should have followed Your revelations before we met with disgrace and shame."
135. Say (Muhammad): "Every one (of us) is waiting, so wait. For you will soon come to know who is the follower of the straight Path and who it is that is rightly guided."
