Translation of the meanings Surah: Al-Mursalāt   Ayah:

Al-Mursalāt

Ayah: 1

وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَٰتِ عُرۡفٗا
1. By the winds sent forth one after another 'for purpose',
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

Ayah: 2

فَٱلۡعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصۡفٗا
2. By the raging hurricanes,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

Ayah: 3

وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشۡرٗا
3. And by the winds that spread (rainclouds) far and wide,

Ayah: 4

فَٱلۡفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرۡقٗا
4. And by the angels who bring Criterion (that separate right from wrong),

Ayah: 5

فَٱلۡمُلۡقِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا
5. Then by those angels who bring down revelation (to the prophets),

Ayah: 6

عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا
6. To excuse¹ or to warn.
1. The believers and to cut off all excuses from the deniers.

Ayah: 7

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞ
7. Indeed, what you are promised will happen.

Ayah: 8

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ
8. So when the stars are obliterated,

Ayah: 9

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ
9. And the heaven is cleft asunder,

Ayah: 10

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ
10. And the mountains are blown away,

Ayah: 11

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ
11. And the messengers are summoned 'to bear witness'.

Ayah: 12

لِأَيِّ يَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ
12. For what Day has all this postponed?

Ayah: 13

لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ
13. For the Day of Judgment!

Ayah: 14

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ
14. And what will make you realize what the Day of Judgment is?

Ayah: 15

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
15. Woe² on that Day to the deniers 'of the Truth'.
2. i.e., death and destruction

Ayah: 16

أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
16. Did We not destroy the former (sinful) generations?

Ayah: 17

ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
17. Then We will follow them with the later ones (their kinds into destruction).

Ayah: 18

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
18. Thus do We deal with the wicked.

Ayah: 19

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
19. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 20

أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ
20. Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid?

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٍ
21. Placing it in a secure place 'the womb',

Ayah: 22

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
22. Until an appointed term,

Ayah: 23

فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَٰدِرُونَ
23. Thus did We determine, how excellent 'are We' to determine.

Ayah: 24

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
24. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 25

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا
25. Have We not made the earth to hold within itself 'all of you',

Ayah: 26

أَحۡيَآءٗ وَأَمۡوَٰتٗا
26. For the living and the dead,

Ayah: 27

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتٗا
27. And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink fresh water?

Ayah: 28

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
28. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 29

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
29. 'The deniers will be told': "Proceed to that Fire which you used to deny.

Ayah: 30

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ
30. Proceed to a shadow (of smoke) having three columns,"

Ayah: 31

لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ
31. Neither having the coolness of shade nor availing against the flames.

Ayah: 32

إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ
32. It throws up sparks as big as a castle,

Ayah: 33

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٞ صُفۡرٞ
33. As yellowish 'black' camels.

Ayah: 34

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
34. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 35

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ
35. This is a Day they will not speak,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

Ayah: 36

وَلَا يُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَيَعۡتَذِرُونَ
36. Nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses.

Ayah: 37

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
37. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 38

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
38. (They will be told): "This is the Day of Judgment. We have gathered you and the former 'disbelieving people'."

Ayah: 39

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدٞ فَكِيدُونِ
39. So if you have any plots, plot against Me3.
3. Which you will never be able to do.

Ayah: 40

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
40. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 41

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ
41. The righteous will be among shades and fountains,

Ayah: 42

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ
42. And fruits such as they desire.

Ayah: 43

كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
43. (They will be told): "Eat and drink pleasantly for what you used to do (of righteousness)."

Ayah: 44

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
44. Thus do We reward the good-doers.

Ayah: 45

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
45. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 46

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ
46. 'O you unbelievers': Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while; you are guilty.

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
47. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 48

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ
48. When it is said to them: "Submit (to Allāh alone, and keep up the prayer), they neither submit nor bow down."

Ayah: 49

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
49. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

Ayah: 50

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
50. In what statement then, after this (Qur’an), will they believe³?
3. We believe in Allāh and in His messenger Muhammad and what Allāh sent down of Books such as the Torah, the Evangel, and the Qur'an - God's Last and final Message.
