AL-MASAD

Ayah: 1

تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ
Que périssent les deux mains d’Abû-Lahab [1105] et que lui-même périsse.
[1105] Abū-Lahab: un des oncles de Muḥammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم), l’un des pires ennemis de l’Islam.

Ayah: 2

مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ
Sa fortune ne lui sert à rien, ni ce qu’il a acquis.

سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ
Il sera brûlé dans un Feu plein de flammes.

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ
de même sa femme, la porteuse de bois [1106],
[1106] Sa femme: Umm Jamil, sœur d’Abū Sufyāne. Elle jetait des branches épineuses la nuit, devant la maison du Prophète qui rentrait par des rues non éclairées, tardivement après la prière devant la Ka˒ba.

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ
à son cou, une corde de fibres.
