At-Takāthur

آیه: 1

أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

1. Competition in (worldly) gains diverts you (O men, from Allah)¹,

1. To the extent that you have neglected remembering Allah (God).

آیه: 2

حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ

2. Until you visit the graves². 

2. I.e., die and remain in the graves temporarily until your Day of Resurrection and Judgment.

آیه: 3

كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

3. No, you shall soon come to know,

آیه: 4

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

4. Again no, you shall soon come to know.

آیه: 5

كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

5. No indeed, if only you knew for certain,

آیه: 6

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ

6. You will certainly see the blazing Fire,

آیه: 7

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

7. Then you will see it with an eye of certainty;

آیه: 8

ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

8. Then on that Day you will be questioned about (all) the favors (of God)³.

3. That He has lavished upon you during your lives.
