27 : 5

۞ وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ ٱبۡنَيۡ ءَادَمَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ إِذۡ قَرَّبَا قُرۡبَانٗا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنۡ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمۡ يُتَقَبَّلۡ مِنَ ٱلۡأٓخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقۡتُلَنَّكَۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

27. Recite to them the story of the two sons of Adam [Cain and Abel] in truth, when both offered a sacrifice, it was accepted from one of them ^[31], but not accepted from the other ^[32]. [Out of envy] he [Cain] said [to his brother]: "I will surely kill you." [Abel] replied: "Allāh only accepts from the righteous."

[31]. I.e., Abel, as he offered the best from his flocks of sheep.
[32]. I.e., Cain, as he offered the worst of his harvest.
