[30]. This shows the example of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, who — centuries later — used the same words when he forgave the Quraysh at the conquest of Makkah: “No blame will be upon you today” (lā tathrība ʿalaykum al-yawm).
Just as Joseph forgave his brothers at the height of power, so too did the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forgive his enemies when he had absolute victory.
True power lies not in revenge, but in mercy inspired by faith.
The truly strong are those who forgive when they can punish.
Like Joseph and the Prophet ﷺ, greatness is measured by restraint and compassion.
Forgiveness heals generational pain.
Joseph’s words end decades of family guilt, restoring trust and unity. Mercy invites divine mercy. As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Show mercy to others, and the Most Merciful will show mercy to you.”
Joseph’s forgiveness was not weakness — it was the perfection of strength.
He remembered not the pit or the prison, but Allāh’s purpose through it all.
When the heart is filled with faith, even wounds become doors to mercy.
