24 : 14

24. Have you not considered how Allāh sets forth an example? A good word [8] is like a good tree —its root firmly grounded, and its branches reaching high into the sky [9]. info

[8]. Allāh’s Word — the Qur’an — is our source of gladness and peace in times of anxiety. He has granted us His Good Word, a light to live by. So, live in God’s Word — meditate on it day and night: on His promises, on the truths of Who He is, on His wisdom, sovereignty, and perfect control over all things.
A harsh or harmful word can weigh a person down, but a good and encouraging word uplifts the heart and brings joy to the soul. This truth reminds us of the healing or hurting power of speech, and the importance of choosing our words with care and sincerity.
A good word has a profound impact on the hearts of people: it brings the satisfaction and forgiveness of God Almighty. Hearts are shaped by it, and souls are purified through it. It raises its speaker in the sight of Allāh and among His creation.
Allāh, the Exalted, said: “And speak good to people.” (Qur’an 2:83)
And He also said: “They were guided to goodly words and to the path of the Praiseworthy.” (Qur’an 22:24)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“A good word is a form of charity.”
The malicious word, by contrast, is the opposite —it harms hearts, destroys bonds, and spreads darkness where there could have been light.
This reminds us that the “good word” — faith in Allāh, truthful speech, kind encouragement — is like a living tree:
its roots are firm in conviction, its branches reach heaven in hope, and its fruits benefit all who come near.
The believer, therefore, speaks words that heal, not harm; words that give life, not despair.
[9]. Every good tree brings forth good fruit.
