27 : 9

ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

27. Then, after this, Allāh turns in mercy to whom He wills. Allāh is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

28 : 9

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ نَجَسٞ فَلَا يَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ ٱلۡحَرَامَ بَعۡدَ عَامِهِمۡ هَٰذَاۚ وَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ عَيۡلَةٗ فَسَوۡفَ يُغۡنِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦٓ إِن شَآءَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞ

28. O believers, the idolaters are [spiritually] impure, so let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this, their [final] year. If you fear poverty, soon Allāh will enrich you out of His bounty, if He wills. Indeed, Allāh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

29 : 9

قَٰتِلُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ ٱلۡحَقِّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ حَتَّىٰ يُعۡطُواْ ٱلۡجِزۡيَةَ عَن يَدٖ وَهُمۡ صَٰغِرُونَ

29. Fight those who do not believe in [the Oneness of] Allāh, nor in the Last Day [in all its aspects], nor do they prohibit what Allāh and His messenger have prohibited ^[9], nor follow the religion of Truth ^[10], of those who have been given the Scripture [the Jews and the Christians] - until they [agree to] pay the Jizyah ^[11] with a willing hand, while they are humbled.

[9]. Such as usury, eating pork, drinking alcohol, sexual immorality, etc.
[10]. I.e., Islam, but follow superstitions and erroneous beliefs, such as the doctrine of the trinity, adoring the cross, or that Jesus Christ is the supposed manifestation, human personification, or incarnation of the One true God - Allāh.
[11]. Protection tax, for those who are able.

30 : 9

وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عُزَيۡرٌ ٱبۡنُ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَٰرَى ٱلۡمَسِيحُ ٱبۡنُ ٱللَّهِۖ ذَٰلِكَ قَوۡلُهُم بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۖ يُضَٰهِـُٔونَ قَوۡلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبۡلُۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ

30. [Some of] the Jews said, “Ezra is the son of Allāh,” and the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allāh ^[12].” Such are the mere words of their mouths. They imitate the sayings of those who disbelieved from before ^[13]. May Allah fight them—how are they turned away [from the truth]!

[12]. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Those Jews who worshipped Ezra will be called upon on the Day of Judgement and it will be said to them, 'Who do you used to worship?' They will say, 'We used to worship Ezra, the son of God.' It will be said to them, 'You are liars, for Allāh [God] has never taken anyone as a son, whereupon they will be gathered unto Hell. Afterwards the Christians will be called upon and it will be said to them, 'Who do you used to worship?' They will say, 'We used to worship Jesus, the son of God.' It will be said to them, 'You are liars, for Allāh has never taken anyone as a son,' whereupon they will be gathered unto Hell". The core concept of Islam is monotheism, affirming one God and (proclaiming): worship and serve Allāh only and shun false gods. All the prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, all called to Islamic Monotheism. Buddha, Krishna or many other wrongly considered divine figures called to worship Allāh alone. Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually worship Satan. There is no true god but Allāh only. Therefore, those who worship the demigods will be in Hell among the demigods; those who worship the ancestors go to the disbelieving ancestors; those who worship ghosts and spirits will be among such beings; and those who worship Allāh alone will live eternally in Paradise.
[13]. Saying that Allāh has taken to Himself a son, as the pagans before them said that the angels are God's daughters.

31 : 9

ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَحۡبَارَهُمۡ وَرُهۡبَٰنَهُمۡ أَرۡبَابٗا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَسِيحَ ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَٰهٗا وَٰحِدٗاۖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

31. They have taken their rabbis and monks as lords ^[14] besides Allāh, and [also] the Messiah, son of Mary, though they were commanded to worship only One God [Allāh]. There is no god [worthy of worship] except Him. Glorified is He above what they associate with Him [as partners in worship].

[14]. By obeying them rather than obeying Allah’s commandments.
 ‘Adiyy ibn Hātim al-Tā’iyy, who was Christian before embracing Islam, narrated that he came to the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) while he was reciting this verse, and he said to the Messenger: “We do not worship them!” He asked: “Do they not deem unlawful what Allāh allowed and you follow them making it unlawful, and declare lawful what Allāh forbade and you follow them making it lawful?” ‘Adiyy said: “Indeed!” then he (ﷺ) said: “That is their worship!”
In Matthew 15:1–9 (Jesus rebukes hypocrisy in their worship) 'Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of Allāh for the sake of your tradition? For Allāh said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’
But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ they are not to honor their father or mother with it. Thus you nullify the word of Allāh for the sake of your tradition.
Isaiah 29:13 (Quoted by Jesus in Matthew)
“These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is made up only of rules taught by men.”
Jeremiah 8:8 (Corruption of religious scholars) “How can you say, ‘We are wise, for we have the law of Allāh,’ when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?”
