ٱنفِرُواْ خِفَافٗا وَثِقَالٗا وَجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ وَأَنفُسِكُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
41. Go forth [for war] whether lightly or heavily armed [23], and strive hard in the cause of Allāh [24] with your wealth and your lives; that is best for you, if you only knew.
[23]. i.e., young or old, riding or walking, in ease or in hardship - in all circumstances and conditions.
[24]. The moral Way to Peace.

9
لَوۡ كَانَ عَرَضٗا قَرِيبٗا وَسَفَرٗا قَاصِدٗا لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلشُّقَّةُۚ وَسَيَحۡلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَوِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡنَا لَخَرَجۡنَا مَعَكُمۡ يُهۡلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
42. If it had been an immediate gain and an easy journey, they would have followed you [O Prophet]; but the distance seemed too far for them. And they will swear by Allāh, “If we had been able, we would certainly have gone out with you.” They destroy themselves, for Allāh knows that they are surely liars.

:
9
عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَتَعۡلَمَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
43. May Allāh pardon you [O Prophet], why did you give them permission [to stay behind] until those who spoke the Truth had become manifest to you and you had known the liars?

:
9
لَا يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ أَن يُجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
44. Those who believe in Allāh and the Last Day do not ask your permission [to stay behind] from striving with their wealth and their lives [in the cause of Allāh]. And Allāh is All-Knowing of the righteous.

9
إِنَّمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَٱرۡتَابَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِي رَيۡبِهِمۡ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ
45. Only those who do not believe in Allāh and the Last Day ask you permission [25], and whose hearts are filled with doubt, so in their doubt do they waver.
[25]. To be exempted from fighting for the cause of Allāh.

:
9
۞ وَلَوۡ أَرَادُواْ ٱلۡخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّواْ لَهُۥ عُدَّةٗ وَلَٰكِن كَرِهَ ٱللَّهُ ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمۡ فَثَبَّطَهُمۡ وَقِيلَ ٱقۡعُدُواْ مَعَ ٱلۡقَٰعِدِينَ
46. If they had intended to go forth, they would have made some preparation for it. But Allāh disliked their setting out, so He held them back, and it was said to them, “Stay with those who stay behind.”

لَوۡ خَرَجُواْ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمۡ إِلَّا خَبَالٗا وَلَأَوۡضَعُواْ خِلَٰلَكُمۡ يَبۡغُونَكُمُ ٱلۡفِتۡنَةَ وَفِيكُمۡ سَمَّٰعُونَ لَهُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
47. Had they gone forth with you, they would have added nothing to you except confusion, and they would have hurried about among you, seeking to sow discord. Among you are some who are inclined to listen to them. And Allāh is All-Knowing of the wrongdoers.
