[35]. Those who emigrated from Makkah to Madinah for the sake of their faith.
[36]. Those from Madinah who aided and supported the Prophet ﷺ and the emigrants.
[37]. I.e., to increase their wealth, good manners, pious deeds, and reward them both in this world and in the Hereafter.
[38]. That they give in good causes, seeking His face.
[39]. Now that they have been given a new lease of life with the gracious acceptance of their repentance, they are to show their true mettle and make up for the chances of getting rewards for good deeds they had wasted. By working hard they should help the Cause of Allāh and the needy and remember always that It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Muhammad, God's Messenger ﷺ said, “The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is one that gives and the lower hand is one that receives. Begin (charity) with those who are under your care; and the best charity is that which given out of surplus; and he who asks (Allāh) to help him abstain from the unlawful and the forbidden, Allāh will fulfill his wish; and he who seeks self-sufficiency will be made self-sufficient by Allāh".
