2. Allah to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, Who has no offspring3, and has no partner in His Kingdom. He has created everything in its due proportion, and ordained its destiny.
3. Yet they have taken besides Him (false) gods, who created nothing, while they are themselves created, who possess not for themselves any harm or benefit, and who have no control over life, death and Resurrection.
4. Those who deny (the Truth) say: "This (Qur’an) is only a lie which he (Muhammad) has invented, with the help of other people." So indeed they have committed an injustice and falsehood.
6. Say: "It (the Qur’an) has been sent down by Allah (God) Who knows (every) secret within the heavens and the earth. Verily, He is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
7. They (the pagans) say: "What is the matter with this messenger (Muhammad) that he eats food and goes about in the markets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him, so that he should have been a warner with him?
8. Or (why is not) a treasure sent down to him (from heaven), or does he not have a garden from which he eats?" The unjust (pagans, deniers, etc.) say: "You do not follow any but a man bewitched."
10. Blessed is Allah Who, if He wills, will give you what is better than that, gardens under which rivers flow, and He will give you palaces (in Heaven).
17. The Day when He (Allah) will resurrect them (pagans, deniers), and whatever they had been worshipping besides Allah, He will say: "Was it you who led astray these, My slaves (of mankind), or did they themselves go astray from the Path?"
18. They will say: "(O Allah) You alone deserve all Glory (Honour and Praise). We are not supposed to take any guardian (lord, savior) other than You6. But you let them and their forefathers enjoy (the pleasures of the worldly life) until they forgot the warning7, and thereby became a people (corrupt and) doomed to perdition.
6. So they had no right to take us as such and make us objects of their worship.
7. Mohammad, God's messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Whoever dies worshipping other gods besides Allah will enter Hell.”
19. Thus they will deny all what you say8, then you can neither avert (the torment) nor get help. Whoever among you commits iniquity9, We shall make him taste a grievous torment.
8. i.e., the false gods will deny their worshipers on the Day of Judgment
9. Ascribes partners to Allah and die as such
20. We have not sent before you any messengers but they certainly ate food and went about in the markets. We have made some of you a trial for others. Will you then have patience? Your Lord (Allah) is Ever All-Seeing.
21. Those who do not expect to meet Allah, say: "Why have not angels been sent down upon us, or (why) do we not see our Lord (Allah)?" They are really filled with pride and are insolent with great insolence.
22. The Day they see the angels, there will be no joy on that Day for the wicked, and they will say: "It (i.e., any good tidings) is a forbidden thing, totally prohibited10."
10. None will be allowed to enter Paradise except the one who says: "laa ilaaha illal Laah," (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh) and followed the way of the Prophet Muhammad.
26. The true Sovereignty on that Day will rightly belong to (Allah) the Most Compassionate, and it will be a Day of terrible difficulty for the deniers.
27. The Day when the evildoer (polytheist, unbeliever) will bite his hands, saying: "Oh, Would that I had taken a Way (to Allah) with the messenger (Muhammad)."
31. Thus We have made for every prophet an enemy from among the wicked. Enough is your Lord (Allah) as a guide and helper13.
13. The Prophet Muhammad when he was rejected and persecuted by the deniers, he prayed to His Lord, Allah, saying: "To You, my Lord, I complain of my weakness,
lack of support and the humiliation I am made to receive. Most Compassionate and Merciful God, Allah. You are the Lord of the weak, and you are my Lord. To whom do You leave me? To a distant person who receives me with hostility? Or to an enemy You have given power over me? As long as you are not displeased with me, I do not care what I face. I would, however, be much happier with Your mercy. I seek refuge in the light of Your face by which all darkness is dispelled and both this life and the life to come are put in their right course against incurring your wrath or being the subject of your anger. To You I submit (O Allah), until I earn Your pleasure. Everything is powerless without your support".
32. Those who deny (the Truth) say: "Why has not the Qur’an been sent down to him all at once? Thus (it is revealed), that We may strengthen your heart by it. We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages14."
14. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in 23 years.
37. Also the people of Noah, when they denied the messengers, We drowned them and made them a Sign (and lesson) for the people. We have prepared a painful torment for the workers of iniquity;
40. Indeed they have (often) passed by the town (of Sodom) that was rained an evil rain (of stones). Have they not then see it? But, they do not hope to be resurrected.
42. He would have nearly led us astray from our gods had we not adhered to them patiently. They will soon know, when they see the torment, who is most astray from the right Path.
45. Have you not considered (how Allah) your Lord extends the shadow? If He had willed He would have made it stationary; then We have made the sun its guide.
47. It is He (Allah) Who made the night as a clothing for you18, and sleep for rest, and He made the day for returning to life (and seeking one’s livelihood).
18. Covering and concealing you in its darkness and providing rest.
50. We have distributed (the water) among them, that they may take heed, but most of mankind refuse (to consent to anything) except ingratitude and disbelief.
53. It is He (Allah) who has made the two seas to follow freely, one sweet and fresh, and the other salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and a prohibiting partition.
54. It is He (Allah) Who has created man from water (semen), then He has made for him relations by blood and marriage. Your Lord (Allah) is ever Competent.
55. Yet they worship besides Allah that which neither benefits them nor causes them harm. The denier is ever a helper (of Satan) against his Lord (Allah).
56. We have only sent you (Muhammad) as a giver of good news (of eternal Bliss)and as a warner (of Chastisement)19.
19. Muhammad, God's messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “No one has a greater sense of honor than Allah. No one loves to allow excuses more than Allah. For this reason, He sent the Messengers to give glad tidings and warnings. No one loves to be praised more than Allah on account of what Allah has promised of Paradise.”
58. Trust in (Allah alone) the Ever-Living, Who dies not, and glorify (Him with His) Praise. Enough is Allah as being Aware of the sins of His slaves (of mankind).
59. It is He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days, then rose over the Throne. He is the Most Compassionate, so ask about Him, the One Who is All-Aware (Allah Himself).
60. When it is told to them: "Prostrate to (Allah) the Most Compassionate." They say: "Who is the Most Compassionate? Shall we prostrate to that which you command us?" And it increases them in aversion.
63. The (true) servants of the Most Compassionate (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the foolish address them (improperly), they say: (Words of) peace20.
20. I.e., address them with mild words of gentleness, avoiding improper words, and harshness.
68. Who do not worship besides Allah another god, and do not kill such life which Allah has made sacred, except with (legal) right, and (who) do not commit adultery. Whoever should do this shall find the recompense of his sin.
70. Except him who repents and believes and does rightous deeds. For them Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. Allah is ever All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
75. These it is that will be rewarded with the most high places (of Paradise), for their patience, and will be received therein with greetings and (words of) peace.
77. Say: My Lord (Allah) would not care for you were it not for your prayer21; but now you have indeed disbelieved22, so that (the permanent torment) will be bound to you23.
21. When you are in adversity, which He then removes.
22. In the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad.
23 In addition to what will befall you in this world.
