132. And all have degrees (according) to what they have done. Your Lord (Allāh) is not unaware of what they do16.
16. The different ranks people will occupy in the Hereafter either in Hell or Paradise, will be each according to their deeds. The more good one does, the higher rank they will have in Paradise, the more evil one commits the severer the place in Hell.
133. And your Lord (O Prophet) is the Rich 'free of all needs', full of Mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and replace you with whoever He wills17 (who would obey Him), just as He raised you up from the offspring of another people.
17 But He gives them respite to reflect and try to mend their ways. That He allows people to go on rebelling against Him is not to be mistaken for any lack of ability.
135. Say: "O my people, work according to your position; for indeed I am working; you will soon know, for whom will be the 'good' end of the Home. Surely the unjust will not succeed.
136. They 'the idolaters' set apart a portion for Allāh out of what He has created of crops and cattle, and say: "This is for Allāh" - so they claim, "and this for our partners (idols)." But what is (allocated) for their idols, it does not reach Allāh, while what is (allocated) for Allāh, it reaches their idols18. Evil it is that which they judge.
18. It was an Arab heathen ritual to allocate two shares out of their livestock; a share for Allāh to be spent on the poor and destitute. and a share for idols to be spent on them. If a portion of Allāh’s share was mixed with that of their idols to be spent on them, they would not deduct it, saying that Allāh is in no need of it. Yet if a portion of their idols’ share fell with that of Allāh’s they would readily take it and add it on to their idols’ share.
137. Thus the pagans' evil associates (i.e., demons) have made fair seeming to most of the idolaters the killing of their children, that they may ruin them and confuse them of their faith (and deeds). If Allāh had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.
