At-Teen

Ayah: 1

وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونِ

1. By the fig and the olive¹.

1. Consider the fig and the olive and their lands i.e., Syria and Palestine, where some prophets of Allah appeared such as Jesus.

Ayah: 2

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ

2. And mount Sinai²,

2. Where Moses communicated with Allah.

Ayah: 3

وَهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ ٱلۡأَمِينِ

3. And by this secure town (Makkah)³.

3. From where prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent as a messenger of God.

Ayah: 4

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمٖ

4. We have created the human being in the best form⁴.

4. I.e., upright, symmetrical, and balanced in form and nature.

Ayah: 5

ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ

5. Then We return him to the lowest of the low⁵.

5. In Hellfire or to old age and a state like childhood after his strength and maturity.

Ayah: 6

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونٖ

6. But those who believe and do righteous deeds, they will have a reward without end (in Paradise).

Ayah: 7

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعۡدُ بِٱلدِّينِ

7. What then, (O deniers) will cause you to deny the Day of Judgment?

Ayah: 8

أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحۡكَمِ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ

8. Is not Allah the Best of judges?
