1. The Qur’an is made up of such letters from the Arabic alphabet. The Arabs at the time of revelation were the unmatched masters of the Arabic language and yet when challenged were totally unable to bring anything like the Qur’an. Although these disjointed Arabic letters are referring to the inimitable nature of the Qur’an and its divine source, God knows best its meaning.
2. Having the power of discerning and judging correctly, discriminating between what is true and what is false; what is fit and proper, and what is improper. The Prophet Muhammad was the wisest man, sent by God with the Qur’an, to all the nations.
11. You can only warn him who follows the Reminder (the Qur’an), and stands in awe of 'Allāh' holy God to whom all praise is due' the Most Compassionate though unseen. So give him the good news of forgiveness and an honorable Reward (in Paradise).
12. It is We Who give life to the dead, and write down what they send forth and what they leave behind (of good or evil)4. We keep everything recorded in a clear Register (the Preserved Tablet).
4. Muhammad, God's Messenger said:
"Among the good deeds that continue to benefit a believer after death are: a knowledge that he taught and disseminated, a righteous child who lived after him, a Qur'an book that he left as inheritance, a masjid that he built, a house that he built for the wayfarers, a stream that he ran, or a charity that he gave from his wealth during his healthy lifetime so that it would reach him (in rewards) after death." This indicate that a righteous child benefits his deceased parents with supplication. It is further demonstrated here that he can benefit them by spending sadaqah, as well as doing other charitable deeds, on their behalf. What benefits him also is teaching and disseminating the knowledge, printing a useful and beneficial book that remains after him, or establishing a charity, the rewards of these things continue to reach him as long as they continue to exist.
14. When We sent to them two messengers, but they rejected them both, then We strengthened them with a third, and they said: "We are messengers (sent) to you."
18. They said (to the messengers of God): "We consider you an evil omen for us5. If you do not desist (calling us to the Oneness of God), we shall certainly stone you, and there will touch you a painful torment from us."
5. Muhammad, God's Messenger said: "There is no passing of disease except with God's Permission, nor is there any bad omen (whether from men or) from birds, nor is there any bad omen in Safar (or any month). Whenever any of you sees something he assumes as bad omen, he should pray: ‘O Allāh my Lord, none but You bring good things. None but you prevent evil things. There is no power and no strength except in You."
23. Should I take other gods besides Him? If (Allāh) the Most Compassionate should intend to afflict me with some adversity, their intercession will not benefit me anything, nor will they be able to save me (from adversity).
47. When they are told: "Spend (for the Cause of Allāh) out of what Allāh has given you", those who deny (the Truth) say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allāh willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in clear error."
52. They will say: "Alas! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep (our graves)? (The reply will be): "This is what the Most Compassionate 'Allāh' had promised, and the messengers told the Truth.
62. (Satan)10 misled multitudes of you (O mankind). Could you not then understand?
10. This shows Satan’s rebellion and fall, and tells us further that he was able to persuade many people, to join him in his rebellion. Though we should not obsess over Satan in any way, there is great advantage in knowing that in spite of what power he may yet retain, he is limited because he has no power over the servants of God - except what power we allow him to have. This knowledge of Satan also reminds us of his power to deceive; however, we are not to be ignorant of his devices because Satan is always ready, willing, and able to mislead and ensnare anyone who is unprepared and undiscerning. Satan will always be what and who he is. Let’s keep our eyes fixed on Allāh, knowing that we are victorious through Him, and by doing so, greatly minimize any possibility of becoming victims of Satan’s schemes.
65. We shall set a seal upon their mouths on that Day, and their hands will speak to Us, and their legs will bear witness of what they used to earn (of sins).
66. Had We willed, We would have deprived these (deniers) of their eyes, so that they would have gone forth to the path, but how could they find it (in this state of their blindness).
67. Had We willed, We could have transformed them (by paralyzing them) in their place, then they would not be able to move forward, nor could they return.
