1. Alif Laam Meem¹.
1. The Qur’an is made up of such letters from the Arabic alphabet. The Arabs at the time of revelation were the unrivalled masters of the Arabic language and yet when challenged were totally unable to bring anything like the Qur’an. Despite this fact, the inimitable nature of the Qur’an and its divine source, God knows best the meaning of these disjointed Arabic letters.
2. The (gradual) sending down of the Book (Qur’an), there is no doubt in it, is from (Allah) the Sovereign Lord of all beings.
3. Or do they say that he (Muhammad) has invented it (the Qur’an)? Rather, it is the Truth from (Allah) your Lord, that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, that they may be guided.
4. It is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, then rose over the Throne. You have not besides Him any guardian (lord, savior) or intercessor. Will you not then take heed?
5. He rules and regulates (every) affair (of His creation) from the heaven to the earth (with Perfection and Wisdom); then every affair ascends to Him in a Day the measure of which is a thousand years of what you count.

7. Who perfected everything that He has created², and He began the creation of man from clay.
2. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has taught us that we should perfect every single action we do. He said: “Allah loves that if one does a job he perfects it.” The word ‘aml, translated in this hadith as job, can literally be any action that we perform. Thereby, one can turn any ordinary work into an act of worship that Allah loves as long as you put all my effort into perfecting it and as long as one does it for the sake of Allah.
8. He made his offspring out of an extract of insignificant fluid.

9. Then He gave it proper shape, and (ordered the angels to) breathe into him his soul (created) by Him. He made for you hearing, sights, and hearts. Little is it that you give thanks (to Him).

11. Say: "The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then to (Allah) your Lord you shall be returned."

20. But as for those who rebel (against God), their home of the Hereafter is the eternal Fire. Whenever they desire to go forth from it they will be brought back in, and they will be told: "Taste the torment of the Fire which you used to deny."

21. We shall certainly make them taste of the nearer torment (in the world) before the greater Torment (in the Hereafter) so that they may (repent and) return (to Allah).
