Al-A‘lā

আয়াত: 1

سَبِّحِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡأَعۡلَى

1. Glorify the Name of your Lord (Allāh), the Most High¹.

1. Give thanks to Him and praise His Name. For Allāh is good and His love and mercy lasts forever.

আয়াত: 2

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

2. He who created and proportioned,

আয়াত: 3

وَٱلَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ

3. Who destined, so He guided.

আয়াত: 4

وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَخۡرَجَ ٱلۡمَرۡعَىٰ

4. He who brings out the (green) pasture,

আয়াত: 5

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحۡوَىٰ

5. Then makes it black stubble,

আয়াত: 6

سَنُقۡرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ

6. We will have you recite (the Qur’an', O Muhammad) so you will not forget,

আয়াত: 7

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ وَمَا يَخۡفَىٰ

7. Excep for what Allāh wills. He surely knows what is manifest and what is hidden.

আয়াত: 8

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ

8. And We will ease you toward ease2.

2. The easy Way of Islam i.e., the doing of righteous deeds that lead to Paradise. 

আয়াত: 9

فَذَكِّرۡ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ

9. So remind, if Reminding benefits.

আয়াত: 10

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰ

10. He will remember he who is in awe (of Allāh),

আয়াত: 11

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى

11. But the most wretched will avoid it,

আয়াত: 12

ٱلَّذِي يَصۡلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

12. He who will (enter and) burn in the greatest Fire;

আয়াত: 13

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحۡيَىٰ

13. Then he will neither die therein nor live.

আয়াত: 14

قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

14. He indeed will prosper who purifies himself (from evil),

আয়াত: 15

وَذَكَرَ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

15. And remembers the Name of his Lord (Allāh) so prays³.

3. The five compulsory prayers and the additional prayers. 

আয়াত: 16

بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا

16. Rather you prefer the life of this world,

আয়াত: 17

وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ

17. And the Hereafter is far better and more enduring.

আয়াত: 18

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ

18. This is surely (mentioned) in the former Scrolls,

আয়াত: 19

صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

19. The scriptures of Abraham and Moses⁴.

4. The ten scrolls of Abraham and the Torah of Moses.
