1 : 52

وَٱلطُّورِ

1. (I swear) by the mount (Sinai) [1], info

[1]. I.e., where Allāh spoke to Moses.

وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ

2. And by a Book Inscribed (this Qur’an), info

3 : 52

فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ

3. In parchment spread open, info

4 : 52

وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ

4. And (I swear) by the House [2] frequently visited, info

[2]. I.e., the House of worship above the Ka’bah in the heavens, or the Ka’bah in Makkah.

5 : 52

وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ

5. And by the roof raised high (i.e., the heaven), info

6 : 52

وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ

6. And (by) the sea set on fire [3], info

[3]. On the Day of Resurrection, or "by the overflowed sea."

7 : 52

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ

7. Indeed, the torment of your Lord will occur; info

8 : 52

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ

8. there is none who can avert it.  info

9 : 52

يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا

9. The Day when the heaven will rotate with (great) rotating. info

10 : 52

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا

10. And the mountains will move away moving (as clouds and scattered dust). info

11 : 52

فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

11. So woe on that Day to the deniers (of the Truth), info

12 : 52

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ

12. those who amuse themselves in falsehood [4]. info

[4]. Engaged in disbelief and evil deeds in this world, ignoring the Hereafter life (i.e. punishment in the Fire of Hell, forever, for the deniers of the Truth).

13 : 52

يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

13. The Day when they will be pushed down to the Fire of Gehinnom, with a forceful pushing (and will be told): info

14 : 52

هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

14. This is the Fire which you used to deny. info

15 : 52

أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ

15. Then is this magic, or you do not see? info

16 : 52

ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوٓاْ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

16. Burn therein then be patient or do not be patient, it is the same for you. You are only being recompensed for what you used to do (of evil). info

17 : 52

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّٰتٖ وَنَعِيمٖ

17. Indeed, the pious will be amid Gardens and Bliss, info

18 : 52

فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ

18. Rejoicing of what their Lord 'Allāh' has given them, and their Lord has saved them from the suffering of the Hellfire. info

19 : 52

كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

19. "Eat and drink pleasantly for what you used to do (of good deeds)." info

20 : 52

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّصۡفُوفَةٖۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ

20. Reclining on thrones (neatly) lined up, and We shall couple them with beautiful maidens with wide, lovely eyes. info

21 : 52

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَمَآ أَلَتۡنَٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيۡءٖۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٞ

21. As for those who believed and whose offspring follow them in faith, We shall join with them their offspring and We shall not deprive them of anything of their (good) deed. Every person for what he earned is pledged [5]. info

[5]. i.e., accountable or held responsible. Literally, "a hostage."

22 : 52

وَأَمۡدَدۡنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٖ وَلَحۡمٖ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ

22. And We will provide them with any fruit and meat such as they desire. info

23 : 52

يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا لَّا لَغۡوٞ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمٞ

23. They will pass on to one another therein a cup of (pure wine) wherein there shall be nothing idle talk nor any sin. info

24 : 52

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانٞ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ

24. And there will circulate among them (servant) boys for them, as if they were preserved pearls. info

25 : 52

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

25. And some of them shall advance on others asking each other [6]. info

[6]. About their worldly lives and what admitted them to Paradise.

26 : 52

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِيٓ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِينَ

26. They will say: "Indeed, We were before this among our families fearful (of Allah´s displeasure)." info

27 : 52

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ

27. So Allāh conferred favor upon us, and has saved us from the torment of the Scorching Fire. info

28 : 52

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

28. Indeed, We used to call upon Him before. He is indeed the Most Kind, the Most Merciful. info

29 : 52

فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٖ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ

29. So (continue to) remind (them), for you are not, by the Favor of your Lord (Allāh), a soothsayer or one possessed. info

30 : 52

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٞ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ

30. Or do they say: (He is) a poet, for whom we wait a misfortune by time [7]. info

[7]. i.e., misfortune or inevitable death.

31 : 52

قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

31. Say: "Keep waiting, for I am too with you of those who wait 'yours'." info

32 : 52

أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ

32. Or do their minds command them to (say) this? Or are they a transgressing people? info

33 : 52

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

33. Or do they say: "He has made it up (this Qur’an)?" Rather, they do not believe. info

34 : 52

فَلۡيَأۡتُواْ بِحَدِيثٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَٰدِقِينَ

34. Then let them produce a (Divine) statement like it if they are truthful. info

35 : 52

أَمۡ خُلِقُواْ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ شَيۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ

35. Or were they created by nothing, or are they the creators (of themselves)? info

36 : 52

أَمۡ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ

36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they have no certainty. info

37 : 52

أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۜيۡطِرُونَ

37. Or have they the treasures of your Lord (Allāh) with them? Or are they the controllers? info

38 : 52

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمٞ يَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِيهِۖ فَلۡيَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ

38. Or have they a stairway (into the heaven) by which they listen therein? Then let their listener bring a clear authority. info

39 : 52

أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ

39. Or has He the daughters, while you have the sons? info

40 : 52

أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمٖ مُّثۡقَلُونَ

40. Or do you (O Muhammad) ask them for a payment (for the Message) so they are by debt overburdened. info

41 : 52

أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبُ فَهُمۡ يَكۡتُبُونَ

41. Or have they (access to the Master Record in) the unseen, so they write (it) down? info

42 : 52

أَمۡ يُرِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِيدُونَ

42. Or do they intend a plot (against you O Prophet)? then those who disbelieve 'in the Truth' are the ones trapped in the plot. info

43 : 52

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَٰهٌ غَيۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

43. Or have they a god other than Allāh? Glory be to Allāh from what they ascribe as partners (to Him in worship). info

44 : 52

وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ كِسۡفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطٗا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٞ مَّرۡكُومٞ

44. And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling (on them), they would only say: "Piled clouds." info

45 : 52

فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ يُصۡعَقُونَ

45. So leave them alone till they face their Day in which they will be stunned (from dread). info

46 : 52

يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُمۡ كَيۡدُهُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ

46. The Day on which their guile will not avail them anything, nor they will be helped. info

47 : 52

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابٗا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

47. And verily, for those who commit iniquity (by worshiping other than Allāh) there is another torment besides that [8], but most of them do not know. info

[8]. I.e., the torment in this world and in their graves.

48 : 52

وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

48. And be patient for the judgement of your Lord, for you are under Our (watchful) Eyes [9]. Glorify 'Allah' your Lord with praise [10] when you rise up [11]. info

[9]. I.e., Under Our Care and Protection.
[10]. That is to say: 'subhānallāhi wabihamdihi, (glory be to Allāh and all praise is due to Him).'
[11]. From your sleeping place or sitting place or when you get up to perform the noon (Dhuhr) and afternoon (Asr) prayers.

49 : 52

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَإِدۡبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ

49. And during the night [12], glorify Him, and at the retreating of the stars [13]. info

[12]. That is the two evening prayers, Maghrib (sunset) and Isha (after sunset) prayers.
[13]. I.e., the morning prayer
