94. They said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are spreading corruption throughout the land [49]. So shall we pay you a tribute that you may build a barrier between us and them?” info

[49]. Gog and Magog are two tribes from among the descendants of Adam, living in the far northern regions beyond Palestine. They are described as having broad faces and small eyes. In ancient times, they spread great corruption throughout the earth. So Allah granted Dhul-Qarnayn the power and knowledge to build a mighty barrier that confined them behind two mountain ranges.
They will continue to dig through this barrier day after day, yet each time they fail to break free—until Allāh allows them to do so near the end of time. Their emergence will occur after Jesus (peace be upon him) has slain the Antichrist. Then Gog and Magog will surge forth in overwhelming numbers, drinking up the waters of Lake Tiberias (in Palestine) and spreading devastation across the earth. No force will be able to resist them.
Jesus (peace be upon him) and the Muslims with him will take refuge on Mount Ṭūr, praying for divine rescue. In answer to their supplication, Allāh will send worms that will attack and destroy Gog and Magog by striking their necks. Afterward, Allāh will send heavy rain to wash away their bodies into the sea and cleanse the earth from their stench. Peace and purity will once again prevail upon the land.
