7
۞ وَإِذۡ نَتَقۡنَا ٱلۡجَبَلَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُۥ ظُلَّةٞ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُۥ وَاقِعُۢ بِهِمۡ خُذُواْ مَآ ءَاتَيۡنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٖ وَٱذۡكُرُواْ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ
171. And [remember] when We raised the mountain above them [the Children of Israel], as if it were a dark cloud, and they thought it would fall upon them: “Take firmly what We have given you [of the Torah], and remember its contents, so that you may guard against evil.”

:
7
وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَأَشۡهَدَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَلَسۡتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ شَهِدۡنَآۚ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنۡ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ
172. And [remember] when your Lord brought forth from the loins of the Children of Adam their descendants and made them bear witness against themselves, saying, “Am I not your Lord?” they replied, “Yes, we bear witness.” This lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, “We were unaware of this.”

:
7
أَوۡ تَقُولُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَشۡرَكَ ءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبۡلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةٗ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۖ أَفَتُهۡلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ
173. Or lest you say [on the Day of Resurrection], “Indeed, it was only our fathers who associated others with Allāh from before, and we were offspring after them. Will You destroy us for what the followers of falsehood did?”

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ
174. Thus do We explain the Verses in detail, and that they may return [to the truth].

:
7
وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَٱنسَلَخَ مِنۡهَا فَأَتۡبَعَهُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِينَ
175. Recite to them, [O Muhammad], the story of the one to whom We granted [knowledge of] Our revelations, yet he detached himself from it [39]. Then Satan pursued him, and he became one of the deviators.
[39]. He is commonly identified as a man from the Children of Israel called Balaam, the son of Beor. He was a knowledgeable figure among the Israelites, reputed for his understanding of divine revelations. Despite this, he chose to disregard the guidance provided, leading to his eventual misguidance.

:
7
وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَرَفَعۡنَٰهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ أَخۡلَدَ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُۚ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡكَلۡبِ إِن تَحۡمِلۡ عَلَيۡهِ يَلۡهَثۡ أَوۡ تَتۡرُكۡهُ يَلۡهَثۚ ذَّٰلِكَ مَثَلُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۚ فَٱقۡصُصِ ٱلۡقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
176. If We had willed, We could have elevated him through those revelations; but he clung to the [life of the] earth and followed his own desires. So his example is like that of a dog — whether you drive it away or leave it alone, it still pants. Such is the example of those who deny Our signs. So relate the stories, that they may reflect and take heed.

:
7
سَآءَ مَثَلًا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَأَنفُسَهُمۡ كَانُواْ يَظۡلِمُونَ
177. Evil is the example of those who denied Our revelations and used to wrong themselves.

:
7
مَن يَهۡدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِيۖ وَمَن يُضۡلِلۡ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
178. Whoever Allāh guides — he alone is rightly guided; and whoever He leaves astray — they are the losers.
