11. Originator of the heavens and the earth; He made pairs for you from among yourselves, and pairs of the cattle too, multiplying you thereby. There is none like Him 'nor is there any God besides Him', and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
12. To Him belongs the treasures of the heavens and the earth. He extends the provision for whom He wills, and straitens (it for whom He wills). He is the All-Knowing of all things.
13. He has plainly clarified the religion 'of Islam' which He commanded Noah, and that revealed to you 'Muhammad', and that which We commanded Abraham, Moses and Jesus⁶, saying: "Uphold the Islamic Monotheism, and be not divided therein. Hard for the pagans is that which you call them to. Allāh chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself who turns to Him 'in repentance'.
6. This Verse is naming the five greatest prophets of God, the prophets of the firm resolve: Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon them all.
14.They 'the early Jews and Nazarenes' did not become divided 'into many sects' until after knowledge had come to them out of envy among themselves. Had not a Word gone forth from 'Allāh' your Lord till an appointed term, the matter would certainly have been settled between them. Those 'later generations of them' who were made to inherit the Scripture⁷after them are in disquieting doubt about it.
15. So call people 'to the true religion of God, Islam' and pursue the right course as you are commanded. Do not follow their low desires, and say: "I believe in whatever Allāh has sent down of Scripture, and I am commanded to do justice between you: Allāh is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is 'no need for' dispute between us and you. Allāh will gather us together, and to Him is the 'final' return."
