Az-Zukhruf

1 : 43

حمٓ

1. Ha Meem ^[1].

[1]. See footnote to Qur’an chapter 2: Verse 1.

2 : 43

وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ

2. Consider the clear Book ^[2]:

[2]. God swears by the clear Book. The clear Book is the Qur’an whose verses are clear with regards to its language and rulings, and all its meanings. A Book whose Truth is evident and which clears up that which is indefinite and inexact.

3 : 43

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَٰهُ قُرۡءَٰنًا عَرَبِيّٗا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ

3. Indeed, We have made it a (perfect) Qur’an in Arabic that you may understand.

4 : 43

وَإِنَّهُۥ فِيٓ أُمِّ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَدَيۡنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ

4. And indeed, It is in the Mother (of) the Book ^[3] with Us, surely Exalted and full of Wisdom.

[3]. i.e., the Preserved Tablet.

5 : 43

أَفَنَضۡرِبُ عَنكُمُ ٱلذِّكۡرَ صَفۡحًا أَن كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا مُّسۡرِفِينَ

5. (Deniers), shall We then turn away from you the Reminder (this Qur’an) disregarding (you), just because you are an extravagant people?

6 : 43

وَكَمۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن نَّبِيّٖ فِي ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

6. And how many a Prophet did We sent among the former people?

7 : 43

وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

7. And there would not come to them a Prophet but they used to mock him.

8 : 43

فَأَهۡلَكۡنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

8. So We destroyed stronger than these (pagans) in assault, and the example of the former (people) have already been passed,

9 : 43

وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ

9. And if you ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth? They will certainly say: 'Allāh' the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing One, has created them;

10 : 43

ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَهۡدٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمۡ فِيهَا سُبُلٗا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَهۡتَدُونَ

10. (He) Who has made the earth as a cradle for you, and made pathways therein for you that you might be guided.

11 : 43

وَٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَۢ بِقَدَرٖ فَأَنشَرۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةٗ مَّيۡتٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ تُخۡرَجُونَ

11. And He Who sends down water (rain) from the sky according to a measure, then We raise to life therewith a dead land. Thus will you be brought forth (from the graves);

12 : 43

وَٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَزۡوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ مَا تَرۡكَبُونَ

12. And (He) Who created the pairs all of them, and made for you of the ships and cattle what you ride,

13 : 43

لِتَسۡتَوُۥاْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِۦ ثُمَّ تَذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَةَ رَبِّكُمۡ إِذَا ٱسۡتَوَيۡتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ وَتَقُولُواْ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُۥ مُقۡرِنِينَ

13. That you may settle yourselves on their backs, then remember the Favor of your Lord when you have settled on them, and say: "Glory be to Allāh Who has subjected this to us, and we could not (otherwise) subdued it (ourselves)."

14 : 43

وَإِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ

14. And indeed, to (Allāh) our Lord we are surely turning over (i.e., returning)."

15 : 43

وَجَعَلُواْ لَهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ جُزۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَكَفُورٞ مُّبِينٌ

15. And they (the pagans) attributed to Him of His bondmen a portion! ^[4]. Indeed, man is surely clearly ungrateful.

[4]. I.e., associates with Him, by claiming that the angels are the daughters of God.

16 : 43

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخۡلُقُ بَنَاتٖ وَأَصۡفَىٰكُم بِٱلۡبَنِينَ

16. Or has He (Allāh) taken for Himself of what, He Himself created, daughters and chosen for you only sons?

17 : 43

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مَثَلٗا ظَلَّ وَجۡهُهُۥ مُسۡوَدّٗا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

17. And when one of them is given the good news of what he cited as a likeness to (Allāh) the Most Compassionate, his face becomes dark, while he is filled with grief.

18 : 43

أَوَمَن يُنَشَّؤُاْ فِي ٱلۡحِلۡيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي ٱلۡخِصَامِ غَيۡرُ مُبِينٖ

18. Then (is one) who is brought up in ornaments, and while in the dispute is not clear (to be associated with Allāh).

19 : 43

وَجَعَلُواْ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عِبَٰدُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ إِنَٰثًاۚ أَشَهِدُواْ خَلۡقَهُمۡۚ سَتُكۡتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمۡ وَيُسۡـَٔلُونَ

19. And (yet) they have made the angels who are they themselves servants of (Allāh) the Most Compassionate - to be female 'divinities'. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned (about it).

20 : 43

وَقَالُواْ لَوۡ شَآءَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدۡنَٰهُمۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَخۡرُصُونَ

20. And they said: "If the Most Compassionate (Allāh) had willed, we would never have worshiped them (i.e., idols)." They have no knowledge of that; They are not but falsifying.

21 : 43

أَمۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ كِتَٰبٗا مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦ فَهُم بِهِۦ مُسۡتَمۡسِكُونَ

21. Or have We given them a Scripture before it (this Qur’an) so that they holding fast to it?

22 : 43

بَلۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهۡتَدُونَ

22. Rather, they said: "We found our fathers following a (particular) way, and surely we are guided upon their tracks."

23 : 43

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِي قَرۡيَةٖ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتۡرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقۡتَدُونَ

23. Thus We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those affluent people in it said: "Indeed, We found our fathers on a way, and surely we are followers of their footsteps."

24 : 43

۞ قَٰلَ أَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكُم بِأَهۡدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمۡ عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَكُمۡۖ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ

24. (The warner) said: "Even if I bring to you a better guidance than that on which you found your fathers?" They said: "Indeed, We are deniers in that with which you are sent."

25 : 43

فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

25. So We took retribution from them, then see how was the end of the deniers.

26 : 43

وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِنَّنِي بَرَآءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡبُدُونَ

26. And (mention), when Abraham said to his father and his people: "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship,

27 : 43

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنِي فَإِنَّهُۥ سَيَهۡدِينِ

27. Except Him ^[5] Who created me, He will certainly guide me.

[5]. I.e. I worship none but Allāh Alone.

28 : 43

وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةَۢ بَاقِيَةٗ فِي عَقِبِهِۦ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ

28. And he made it ^[6] a word remaining among his posterity so that they may return (to it) ^[7].

[6]. I.e., that you shall not take any other gods besides Allāh.
[7]. When they slip and then repent to Allāh or receive admonition.

29 : 43

بَلۡ مَتَّعۡتُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَرَسُولٞ مُّبِينٞ

29. Rather, I gave enjoyment to these (pagans) and their fathers until there came to them the Truth and a clear messenger ^[8].

[8]. I.e., the Prophet Muhammad

30 : 43

وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحۡرٞ وَإِنَّا بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ

30. And when there came to them the Truth they said: "This is magic, and indeed we are disbelievers in it."

31 : 43

وَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ

31. And they said: "Why is not this Qur’an sent down to a man, of the two towns, great ^[9]?

[9]. Of Makkah and Ta’if in Arabia, instead of revealing it upon Muhammad, the impoverished orphan.

32 : 43

أَهُمۡ يَقۡسِمُونَ رَحۡمَتَ رَبِّكَۚ نَحۡنُ قَسَمۡنَا بَيۡنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ وَرَفَعۡنَا بَعۡضَهُمۡ فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٖ دَرَجَٰتٖ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُهُم بَعۡضٗا سُخۡرِيّٗاۗ وَرَحۡمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيۡرٞ مِّمَّا يَجۡمَعُونَ

32. Do they distribute the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who have distributed among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We have raised some of them above others in degrees, that they may make use of one another for service. But the Mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass (of worldly wealth).

33 : 43

وَلَوۡلَآ أَن يَكُونَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ لَّجَعَلۡنَا لِمَن يَكۡفُرُ بِٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمۡ سُقُفٗا مِّن فِضَّةٖ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيۡهَا يَظۡهَرُونَ

33. Were it not that all people would become one community ^[10], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most  Compassionate (Allāh), for their houses, ceilings out of silver and elevators on which they mount.

[10]. I.e., all deniers desiring only the life of this world and assuming that Allah’s generosity to them is a sign of His approval.

34 : 43

وَلِبُيُوتِهِمۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيۡهَا يَتَّكِـُٔونَ

34. And for their houses (silver) doors and couches (of silver) on which they recline,

35 : 43

وَزُخۡرُفٗاۚ وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ

35. And ornaments of gold. And All this is not but a (fleeting) enjoyment of this worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous ^[11].

[11]. Who keep to the Commandments of Allāh and abstain from what He has prohibited.

36 : 43

وَمَن يَعۡشُ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضۡ لَهُۥ شَيۡطَٰنٗا فَهُوَ لَهُۥ قَرِينٞ

36. And whoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of (Allāh) the Most Compassionate (this Qur’an) ^[12], We appoint for him a devil, so he becomes his associate (increasing him in sin).

[12]. Whoever does not look into the Qur’an, turning away from it, will be punished by a devil set upon him, never leaving him and tempting him more and more.

37 : 43

وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ

37. And indeed, they surely hinder them from the Path (of Islam), and they think they are rightly guided (so they do not repent);

38 : 43

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَنَا قَالَ يَٰلَيۡتَ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَكَ بُعۡدَ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ فَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡقَرِينُ

38. Until when he comes to Us, he will say (to his appointed devil): "Would that between me and you the distance of the two easts ^[13]!" How wretched then is the companion.

[13] This is understood also to mean the east and west; or the rising of the sun and moon; or the rising of the sun in summer and winter.

39 : 43

وَلَن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ إِذ ظَّلَمۡتُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ

39. And It will never benefit you this Day when you committed wrong ^[14], that you will be sharing in the torment.

[14]. By associating partners with Allāh in worship or committing other deadly sins.

40 : 43

أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ أَوۡ تَهۡدِي ٱلۡعُمۡيَ وَمَن كَانَ فِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖ

40. Will you then make the deaf to hear, or guide the blind and him who is in clear error?

41 : 43

فَإِمَّا نَذۡهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنۡهُم مُّنتَقِمُونَ

41. And whether (or not) We take you away (in death), Surely, We shall take retribution on them;

42 : 43

أَوۡ نُرِيَنَّكَ ٱلَّذِي وَعَدۡنَٰهُمۡ فَإِنَّا عَلَيۡهِم مُّقۡتَدِرُونَ

42. Or, We certainly show you (O Prophet) that (torment) which We have promised them, then indeed, We have full Power over them.

43 : 43

فَٱسۡتَمۡسِكۡ بِٱلَّذِيٓ أُوحِيَ إِلَيۡكَۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ

43. So hold fast (Muhammad) to that which has been revealed to you (this Qur’an). You are certainly on a straight Path.

44 : 43

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذِكۡرٞ لَّكَ وَلِقَوۡمِكَۖ وَسَوۡفَ تُسۡـَٔلُونَ

44. And indeed, It is surely a Reminder for you and your people, and you will be questioned (about it).

45 : 43

وَسۡـَٔلۡ مَنۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَآ أَجَعَلۡنَا مِن دُونِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ءَالِهَةٗ يُعۡبَدُونَ

45. And ask (those) whom We sent before you of Our messengers: "Did We ever appoint gods to be worshiped besides (Allāh) the Most Compassionate?"

46 : 43

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

46. And indeed, We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his council, and he said: "I am the messenger of (Allāh) Lord of the worlds (mankind, jinn, angels, etc)."

47 : 43

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنۡهَا يَضۡحَكُونَ

47. But when he (Moses) came to them with Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

48 : 43

وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنۡ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ أُخۡتِهَاۖ وَأَخَذۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ

48. And We showed them not a sign but it was greater than its sister (sign before), and We seized them with torment so that they might return (to the right Path of Islam).

49 : 43

وَقَالُواْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلسَّاحِرُ ٱدۡعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهۡتَدُونَ

49. And they said (to Moses): "O you sorcerer ^[15], invoke your Lord for us, by what He has made covenant with you. (If He removes this torment from us) indeed we (will) surely be guided."

[15]. i.e., man of vast learning

50 : 43

فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمۡ يَنكُثُونَ

50. But when We removed from them the Punishment, at once they break (their pledge).

51 : 43

وَنَادَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِي قَوۡمِهِۦ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ أَلَيۡسَ لِي مُلۡكُ مِصۡرَ وَهَٰذِهِ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِيٓۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ

51. And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, he said: "O my people, is not the kingdom of Egypt mine? And these rivers flow beneath me, do you not then see (my grandeur)?

52 : 43

أَمۡ أَنَا۠ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٞ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ

52. Or am I not much better than this (fellow), who is contemptile and can hardly make his (meaning) clear?

53 : 43

فَلَوۡلَآ أُلۡقِيَ عَلَيۡهِ أَسۡوِرَةٞ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ مَعَهُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ مُقۡتَرِنِينَ

53. Then Why are not bracelets of gold been cast on him or come with him the angels as escorts?"

54 : 43

فَٱسۡتَخَفَّ قَوۡمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ

54. So he (Pharaoh) befooled his people, and they obeyed him. Surely they were a sinful people.

55 : 43

فَلَمَّآ ءَاسَفُونَا ٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ فَأَغۡرَقۡنَٰهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

55. Then when they angered Us, We took (Divine) Retribution on them, so We drowned them all together,

56 : 43

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ سَلَفٗا وَمَثَلٗا لِّلۡأٓخِرِينَ

56. And so We made them a precedent and an example to the others.

57 : 43

۞ وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوۡمُكَ مِنۡهُ يَصِدُّونَ

57. And when is quoted the son of Mary (Jesus) as an example ^[16] behold, your people laughed out about it (at the example) ^[17]

[16]. Of being worshiped along with Allāh.
[17]. Arguing that Jesus will be in Hell as well! The Prophet replied that the verse was talking exclusively about idols, adding that Jesus himself did not ask to be worshiped. 

58 : 43

وَقَالُوٓاْ ءَأَٰلِهَتُنَا خَيۡرٌ أَمۡ هُوَۚ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلَۢاۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٌ خَصِمُونَ

58. And they said: "Are our gods better, or he 'Jesus' ^[18] ?" They did not present it (the comparison) except for mere dispute, rather they are a quarrelsome people.

[18]. Matthew 2:13 says, "When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. 'Get up,' he said, 'take the child (Jesus) and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.'"
Here, Jesus is clearly under the guidance of Allāh, and Allāh communicates instructions through His messenger (the angel). This shows obedience to Allāh, which is a key sign of servitude."
The angel warned Joseph to take Jesus to safety. This shows that Jesus was a servant of Allāh and a messenger. So, even in the Bible, we see that Jesus is both a servant and a messenger of Allāh, acting fully under Allāh’s guidance, just as the prophets in Islam are described.

59 : 43

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبۡدٌ أَنۡعَمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ مَثَلٗا لِّبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ

59. He (Jesus) is no more than servant (and messenger of God) on whom We bestowed Favor (Prophethood). And made him an example for the children of Israel ^[19].

[19]. Jesus said to her: “Mary!” On turning around, she said to him in Hebrew: “Rab·boʹni!” (which means “Teacher!”) Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to Allāh. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to Allāh, my Lord and your Lord and to my God and your God.’
"As he went out into the street, a man came running up, greeted him with great reverence, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?” Jesus said, “Why are you calling me good? No one is good, only Allāh. You know the commandments: Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, honor your father and mother.”

60 : 43

وَلَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلۡنَا مِنكُم مَّلَٰٓئِكَةٗ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يَخۡلُفُونَ

60. Had We so willed, We could have made (instead) of you angels on earth, succeeding (each other).

61 : 43

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَعِلۡمٞ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمۡتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَٱتَّبِعُونِۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٞ مُّسۡتَقِيمٞ

61. And surely his (second coming) is (a sign and) knowledge ^[20] for (the approaching of) the Hour (of Doom), so do not doubt about it, and follow me (in Islamic Monotheism) - this is straight Path.

[20]. Muhammad, God's Messenger (ﷺ) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus. He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognize him: a man of medium height, reddish and fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross declaring the end of that wrong doctrine, kill the swine indicating prohibition of consuming pork, and abolish the tax. Allāh will end all religions except Islam. Jesus will kill the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray funeral prayer over him.

62 : 43

وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّٞ مُّبِينٞ

62. And let not Satan hinder you (O people, from the right Path of Islam), for he is an open enemy to you.

63 : 43

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ عِيسَىٰ بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالَ قَدۡ جِئۡتُكُم بِٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ وَلِأُبَيِّنَ لَكُم بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي تَخۡتَلِفُونَ فِيهِۖ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

63. And when Jesus came (to the children of Israel) with clear Proofs he said: "I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so fear Allāh and obey me:

64 : 43

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٞ مُّسۡتَقِيمٞ

64. Indeed, Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord, (and my God and your God), so worship Him alone; this is the right Path."

65 : 43

فَٱخۡتَلَفَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِهِمۡۖ فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنۡ عَذَابِ يَوۡمٍ أَلِيمٍ

65. So the parties differed from among them (the Jews and Nazarenes i.e., Christians), so woe to those who commit wrong (by worshiping Jesus) from the Torment of a Painful Day.

66 : 43

هَلۡ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

66. Are they waiting except for the Hour (of Doom) to come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive?

67 : 43

ٱلۡأَخِلَّآءُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بَعۡضُهُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

67. The close friends that Day, some of them to others will be enemies except the righteous,

68 : 43

يَٰعِبَادِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ وَلَآ أَنتُمۡ تَحۡزَنُونَ

68. O My servants, there is no fear for you this Day, nor shall you grieve.

69 : 43

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُواْ مُسۡلِمِينَ

69. Those who believed in Our verses and were Muslims (fully submitting to the Will of God).

70 : 43

ٱدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ أَنتُمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجُكُمۡ تُحۡبَرُونَ

70. Enter Paradise, you and your wives; rejoicing."

71 : 43

يُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِصِحَافٖ مِّن ذَهَبٖ وَأَكۡوَابٖۖ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشۡتَهِيهِ ٱلۡأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ ٱلۡأَعۡيُنُۖ وَأَنتُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

71. There shall be circulated round to them platters of gold and gobletsa nd 'there will be' therein all that the souls may desire, and the eyes delight in. And you will abide therein forever.

72 : 43

وَتِلۡكَ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِيٓ أُورِثۡتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

72. This is the Paradise which you are made to inherit, because of what you used to do (of righteousness).

73 : 43

لَكُمۡ فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٞ كَثِيرَةٞ مِّنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ

73. For you therein are many fruits, from it you will eat (as you desire).

74 : 43

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ فِي عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ

74. Indeed, the guilty will be in the Torment of Gehinnom (Hell) abiding (forever).

75 : 43

لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَهُمۡ فِيهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ

75. It will not be lightened from them (the torment), and they therein are overwhelmed with despair.

76 : 43

وَمَا ظَلَمۡنَٰهُمۡ وَلَٰكِن كَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

76. And We did not do injustice to them but they were themselves the unjust.

77 : 43

وَنَادَوۡاْ يَٰمَٰلِكُ لِيَقۡضِ عَلَيۡنَا رَبُّكَۖ قَالَ إِنَّكُم مَّٰكِثُونَ

77. And they will cry out: "O Malik ^[21], let your Lord (Allāh) put an end to us". He will say: "Indeed, you (will) remain."

[21]. The keeper of Hell.

78 : 43

لَقَدۡ جِئۡنَٰكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَكُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ

78. We have certainly brought you the Truth, but most of you are averse to the Truth.

79 : 43

أَمۡ أَبۡرَمُوٓاْ أَمۡرٗا فَإِنَّا مُبۡرِمُونَ

79. Or have they determined (some) ffair ^[22]? Then indeed, We are determined.

[22]. I.e., A plot against you (Muhammad) and the believers.

80 : 43

أَمۡ يَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسۡمَعُ سِرَّهُمۡ وَنَجۡوَىٰهُمۚ بَلَىٰ وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ يَكۡتُبُونَ

80. Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Yes (We do), and Our messengers (the recording angels) with them write down (what they plot).

81 : 43

قُلۡ إِن كَانَ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ وَلَدٞ فَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡعَٰبِدِينَ

81. Say: 'If the Most Compassionate (Allāh) had a son (as you claim), then I am the first of Allah’s worshippers ^[23].

[23]. Who deny and refute this claim of yours and the first to believe in Allāh, the One and only True God, and testify that He has neither a son nor daughters nor partners nor any equivalent.

82 : 43

سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

82. Glory be to (Allāh) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the (great) Throne, from all that (untruth) they ascribe to Him.

83 : 43

فَذَرۡهُمۡ يَخُوضُواْ وَيَلۡعَبُواْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ

83. So leave them (to) indulge in idle talk and play (around) until they meet their Day which they are promised.

84 : 43

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَٰهٞ وَفِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَٰهٞۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ

84. And it is He Who is (the Only true) God in the heaven and in the earth God. And He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing.

85 : 43

وَتَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَعِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ

85. And blessed is (Allāh) to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and who has the Knowledge of the Hour (of Doom). To Him you will be all returned (for Judgment).

86 : 43

وَلَا يَمۡلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ

86. And those they invoke besides Him (Allāh) do not have any (power of) intercession, except those who bear witness to the Truth, while they know ^[24].

[24]. The facts about the Oneness of God - Islamic Monotheism.

87 : 43

وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَهُمۡ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ

87. And if you ask them ^[25] who created them, they will certainly say: Allāh (God). How are they then turned away ^[26]?

[25]. The pagans.
[26]. From the worship of Allâh, Who created them.

88 : 43

وَقِيلِهِۦ يَٰرَبِّ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوۡمٞ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

88. And for his saying ^[27]: "O my Lord, these are a people who do not believe (the Truth)."

[27]. I.e., Allah knows best of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) complaint about his people who denied him.

89 : 43

فَٱصۡفَحۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَقُلۡ سَلَٰمٞۚ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ

89. So (forbear and) overlook them, and say, "peace!" ^[28], for they will soon come to know (the Truth).

[28]. I.e., address them with words of gentleness avoiding improper words.
