1. Ta Seen Meem¹.
1. The Qur’an is made up of such letters from the Arabic alphabet. The Arabs at the time of Revelation were the unrivaled masters of the Arabic language and yet when challenged were totally unable to bring anything like the Qur’an. Despite this fact, the inimitable nature of the Qur’an and its divine source, God knows best the meaning of these disjointed Arabic letters.
2. These are the Verses of the clear Book².
2. The clear Book is the Qur’an whose verses are clear with regards to its language and rulings, and all its meanings. A Book whose Truth is evident and which clears up that which is indefinite and inexact.
3. Perhaps you torment yourself to death with grief, because they will not become believers.
4. If We will, We could send down upon them from the sky a Sign to which they would bend their necks in humility.
5. Never comes to them a Reminder (Qur’an) as a recent revelation from the Most Compassionate (Allah), but they turn away from it.
6. So they have indeed denied (the Truth of Islam), so the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them.
7. Do they not see the earth, how many of every kind of plants We (Allah) have caused to grow therein?
8. In this there is, certainly, evidence (of the Onness of Allah). But most of them are not believers.
9. Your Lord (Allah) is certainly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
10. When (Allah) your Lord called out to Moses, saying: "Go to the unjust people,
11. The people of Pharaoh: Will they not fear Allah and shun evil?"
12. (Moses) said: "Lord (Allah), I fear that they will deny me.
13. Then my chest straitens, also my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron (to help me).
14. Moreover, they have a charge (of murder) against me, so I fear that they may kill me."
15. (Allah) said: "No. Go you both with Our signs; We are with you, listening".
16. Then come to Pharaoh and say: "We are the messengers of the Sovereign Lord of all beings.
17. Send the children of Israel with us.
18. (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you stayed among us for (many) years of your life?
19. And you did (that) deed of yours which you did (i.e., killing a man), and you are of the ungrateful."
20. (Moses) said: "I did it then when I was ignorant (concerning Allah and His message).
21. So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord (Allah) granted me sound judgment and appointed me as one of the Messengers.
22. Is it a favor of which you remind me, that you have enslaved the children of Israel?
23. Pharaoh said: "Who is the Lord of the universe?"
24. (Moses) said: "(Allah) the Sovereign Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty."
25. (Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you not hear (what he says)?"
26. (Moses) said: "(He is also) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old."
27. (Pharaoh) said: "Your messenger who is sent to you is certainly out of his mind."
28. (Moses) said: "(Allah is) the Sovereign Lord of the East and the West and what is between them, if only you had sense."
29. (Pharaoh) said: "If you will take a god other than me, I will certainly make you of the imprisoned."
30. (Moses) said: "Even if I bring to you something manifest (and convincing)?"
31. (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it then, if you are truthful."
32. So (Moses) cast down his staff, and at once it was a manifest snake,
33. He drew forth his hand, and at once it appeared white (with radiance) to the beholders.
34. Pharaoh said to the council around him: "This is certainly a skillful sorcerer,
35. He wants to drive you out of your land with his sorcery. What is it then that you advise?"
36. They said: "Give him (Moses) and his brother (Aaron) respite and send callers into the cities,
37. That they should bring to you every skillful magician."
38. So the magicians were gathered together at appointed time on a known day,
39. It was told to the people: "Will you gather together?
40. That we may follow the magicians, if they are the winners."
41. So when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh: "Will there be any reward for us if we are the winners?"
42. He said: "Yes, and you will certainly then be of those drawn near (to me)."
43. Moses said to them: "Cast what you are going to cast."
44. They cast down their ropes and their staffs and said: "By Pharaoh’s power, we shall certainly be winners."
45. Then Moses cast down his staff and at once it swallowed up the falsehood they invented.
46. The magicians fell down prostrate.
47. They said: "We believe in (Allah) the Sovereign Lord of all beings.
48. The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
49. (Pharaoh) said: "You believe in Moses before I give you permission; he is certainly the chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall soon come to know: I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all."
50. They said: "No harm (to us); to (Allah) our Lord we will certainly return;
51. We hope that (Allah) our Lord will forgive us our wrongs - as we are the first of the believers."
52. We revealed to Moses, saying: "Go away with My servants traveling by night, you will be pursued."
53. So Pharaoh sent heralds into the cities;
54. (Saying): "These are a small band;
55. They have enraged us;
56. But we are all cautious, fully prepared (against any danger and terror)."
57. Thus did We drive them out of gardens and springs,
58. And (from) treasures and goodly dwellings,
59. So it was, and We caused to inherit it the children of Israel.
60. They (Pharaoh and his army) pursued them at sunrise.
61. When the two armies saw each other, the companions of Moses cried out: "We are certainly caught."
62. (Moses) said: "No, (Allah) my Lord is certainly with me - He will guide me."
63. We inspired to Moses: "Strike the sea with your staff." So it parted, and each separate part (of the sea) was like a huge, firm mass of mountain.
64. Then We brought near to there the others.
65. We delivered Moses and those with him, all together.
66. Then We drowned the others.
67. In this there is certainly a Sign, but most of them are not believers.
68. Your Lord (Allah) is certainly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
69. Recite to them the story of Abraham.
70. When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?"
71. They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted."
72. He said: "Do they hear you when you call?
73. Or do they benefit you or cause you harm?"
74. They said: "No, but we found our fathers doing so."
75. (Abraham) said: "Have you then considered what you have been worshiping:
76. You and your ancient fathers.
77. They are enemies to me, except the Sovereign Lord of the universe, (Allah);
78. Who created me, and it is He Who guides me.
79. It is He (Allah) Who feeds me and gives me to drink:
80. And when I am sick, He (Allah) heals me³.
3. These are the words of the prophet Abraham, being conscious of his own impotency to cure himself; and being fully satisfied of the power of Allah to cure and heal him. Sins are also diseases, and healing them lies in the forgiveness of them, which Allah can only grant.
the famous story of the boy and the king recorded in the Sunnah, when the king’s courtier asks the boy to cure his blindness, the boy retorts: “Verily, I cure no one. Only Allāh (Exalted is He) cures. If you believe in Allāh (Exalted is He), I will supplicate to Allāh and He will cure you.”
Hence, while the supplication was a means of curing the blindness, the real doer was Allāh alone. By making this known to the courtier, the boy instilled in him the reality of Monotheism. However, this does not mean the action (in this case, healing) cannot be ascribed to the means (in this case, the boy or his supplication). It is correct to make this ascription, as long as the belief that the effort is not the real cause is firmly understood. Jesus also cured the blind and the leprosy and raised from the dead all by Allah's permission and not from Himself. Jesus is nothing without the help of his God and Lord, Allah.
81. He (Allah) will cause me to die4, and will bring me back to life;
4 . The prophet Muhammad said, “One who accompanies the funeral of a Muslim with faith and hope of earning reward, and remains with it until the burial is complete, shall return (home) with two qirat (great) rewards. Each reward is equal to Mount Uhud, and the person who performs the funeral prayer only, and returns before the burial, will return with one qirat (great) reward”.
82. It is He (Allah) Whom I hope to forgive my sin on the Day of Recompense.
83. Lord (Allah), grant me right judgment, and join me with the righteous.
84. Grant for me a goodly mention in later generations.
85. Place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss.
86. Forgive my father, he has gone astray;
87. And do not disgrace me on the Day when they are raised up (from the dead).

188. (Shu’aib) said: "My Lord (Allah) knows best what you do."
189. But they rejected him, so the torment of the Day of the overshadowing cloud seized them; it was the torment of a terrible Day.

199. Who would have recited it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it.
200. Thus have We caused it (denial of the Qur’an) to enter the hearts of the wicked.

16. Islam encourages good wholesome poetry, which inspires one towards the fear of God, towards His awe and obedience, and towards anything that is good and made permissible by God and His messenger. What is forbidden is poetry that does nothing but instigates and encourages indecency, illegal lusts and desires, and inspires one towards the transgression of the boundaries of Islam.
Allah's Messenger said, "It is better for anyone of you that the inside of his body be filled with pus which may consume his body, than it be filled with poetry."
The Messenger of Allah did not like poets and poetry, which sensationalized and encouraged the pursuit of the world and its alluring lusts. But he encouraged those poets whose poetry praised God, contained words of wisdom which related to the Guidance to God.
