Quraysh

1 : 106

لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ

For the accustomed security of the Quraysh^[1],

[1] Allah had given Quraysh the honor of being guardians of the Holy Ka‘bah, which allowed them to travel in peace without fear of being harmed.

2 : 106

إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ

secure in their winter and summer journeys^[2].

[2] i.e., their trading caravans would travel south to Yemen in winter and north to the Levant in summer.

3 : 106

فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ

Let them worship the Lord of this [Sacred] House^[3],

[3] i.e., the Ka‘bah.

4 : 106

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ

Who fed them against hunger and made them secure against fear^[4].

[4] The people of Quraysh were blessed with provision and security probably because of the prayer of Abraham. See 14:35-37
