:
3
وَلِيُمَحِّصَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَيَمۡحَقَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
141. So that Allāh may purify those who believe [53] and blot out the disbelievers.
[53]. That is, to purge them through trials—removing the hypocrites and confirming the true believers.

142
:
3
أَمۡ حَسِبۡتُمۡ أَن تَدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعۡلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَيَعۡلَمَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
142.Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allāh has not yet made evident those among you who strive [in His Cause] and made evident those who remain steadfast in patience?

143
:
3
وَلَقَدۡ كُنتُمۡ تَمَنَّوۡنَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن تَلۡقَوۡهُ فَقَدۡ رَأَيۡتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمۡ تَنظُرُونَ
143. And you had certainly longed for death [i.e., martyrdom] before you meet it, and you have already seen it [with your own eyes] while you were looking on.

:
3
وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٞ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُۚ أَفَإِيْن مَّاتَ أَوۡ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبۡتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبۡ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيۡهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ وَسَيَجۡزِي ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ
144. Muhammad is not but a messenger [of God]. [Many] messengers have already passed on before him. So if he were to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels? Whoever turns back on his heels will never harm Allāh in the least. But Allāh will reward the grateful.

145
:
3
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تَمُوتَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ كِتَٰبٗا مُّؤَجَّلٗاۗ وَمَن يُرِدۡ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡهَا وَمَن يُرِدۡ ثَوَابَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡهَاۚ وَسَنَجۡزِي ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ
145. No soul can ever die except with the Permission of Allāh, the term being already written. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We shall give him [a share] of it, and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter We shall give him [a share] of it. And We will reward those who are grateful.

146
:
3
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن نَّبِيّٖ قَٰتَلَ مَعَهُۥ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٞ فَمَا وَهَنُواْ لِمَآ أَصَابَهُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُواْ وَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُواْۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
146. How many a Prophet fought [in the Cause of Allāh] and along with him [fought] many religious scholars. So they never lost courage for what struck them in Allah’s Cause, nor did they weaken or abase themselves. And Allāh loves those who are steadfast in patience.

147
:
3
وَمَا كَانَ قَوۡلَهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسۡرَافَنَا فِيٓ أَمۡرِنَا وَثَبِّتۡ أَقۡدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
147. Their words were not but that they said: "Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make our feet firm [in the battlefield], and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.

148
:
3
فَـَٔاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَحُسۡنَ ثَوَابِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
148. So Allāh gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. Allāh loves the good-doers.
