Ash-Shu‘arā’

1. Ta Seen Meem¹.
1. See footnote to Qur’an chapter2: Verse1.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
2. These are the Verses of the clear Book².
2. The clear Book is the Qur’an whose verses are clear with regards to its language and rulings, and all its meanings. A Book whose Truth is evident and which clears up that which is indefinite and inexact.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
3. Perhaps you (Muhammad) consume yourself (with grief) that they are not going to be believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
4. If We will, We can send down upon them from the sky a Sign so that their necks should remain bowed to it in humility.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
5. And there comes not to them Reminder (revelation) from (Allāh) the Most Compassionate as new, but they turn away from it.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
6. So they have already denied (this Qur’an), so the news of that which they mock it shall soon come to them.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
7. Do they not see the earth, how many We have caused to grow therein of every noble pair?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
8. In this there is certainly a sign. Yet most of them were not to be believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
9. And indeed your Lord (Allāh) is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
10. And (mention) when your Lord called out to Moses, saying: "Go to the unjust people,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
11. The people of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
12. (Moses) said: "My Lord (Allah), Indeed, I fear that they will deny me.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
13. And my chest straitens, also my tongue is not fluent, so send for Aaron (to help me).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
14. And they have a crime (of murder) against me, so I fear that they may kill me."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
15. (Allāh) said: "No. So go you both with Our signs; We are with you, listening".
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
16. So come to Pharaoh and say: "Indeed, We are the messenger of the Lord of all beings.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
17. That send with us the children of Israel.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
18. (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not rear you among us as a newborn, and you stayed (many) years of your life in our care?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
19. And you did your deed (of murder) which you did, and you are of the ungrateful."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
20. (Moses) said: "I did it then when I was of those who are lost (ignorant concerning Allāh and His message).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
21. So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord (Allāh) granted me sound judgement and appointed me as one of the Messengers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
22. And that is a favor with which you oblige on me that you have enslaved the children of Israel3?
3. When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
23. Pharaoh said: "What is the Lord of the universe?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
24. (Moses) said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, if you should be convinced with certainty."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
25. (Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you not hear (what he said)?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
26. (Moses) said: (He is also) your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
27. (Pharaoh) said: "Your messenger who is sent to you is certainly mad."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
28. (Moses) said: "(He is the) Lord of the East and the West and what is between them, if you only had any sense."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
29. (Pharaoh) said: "If you will take a god other than me, I will certainly place you among those imprisoned."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
30. (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you some thing clear?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
31. (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it then, if you are of the truthful."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
32. So (Moses) cast down his staff, and at once it was a manifest snake,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
33. And he drew out his hand, and at once it was white (shining) to the beholders.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
34. (Pharaoh) said to the council around him: "This is certainly a skillful sorcerer,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
35. He wants to drive you out of your land with his sorcery. So what do you command?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
36. They said: "Postpone him (Moses) and his brother (Aaron) and raise up into the cities gatherers -
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
37. who will bring you with every knowing magician."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
38. So the magicians were assembled for appointment of a known day (the day of festival),
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
39. And it was said to the people: "Will you gathet together?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
40. That perhaps we may follow the magicians, if they are the winners."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
41. So when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh: "Will there be any reward for us if we are the winners?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
42. He said: "Yes, and you will then certainly be of those near 'to me'."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
43. Moses said to them: "Cast what you are going to cast."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
44. So they cast down their ropes and their staffs and said: "By Pharaoh’s power, we, we ourselves shall certainly be the winners."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
45. Then Moses cast down his staff, and at once it devoured what they had falsified.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
46. So the magicians fell down, prostrating.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
47. They said: "We believe in the Lord of all beings.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
48. Lord of Moses and Aaron."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
49. (Pharaoh) said: "You believed him (Moses) before I give you permission. He is certainly your chief who taught you the magic, so you shall soon come to know: I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
50. They said: "No harm. For we will surely return to our Lord (Allāh);
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
51. Indeed, We hope that our Lord (Allāh) will forgive us our sins - that we are the first to believe."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
52. And we inspired to Moses, 'saying': "Travel by night with My servants, for you will surely be pursued."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
53. So Pharaoh sent in the cities gatherers;
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
54. (Saying): Indeed, these (Muslims of Israelites) are a small gang (of terrorists);
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
55. And indeed, They to us are surely enraging;
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
56. And indeed, we are a nation wary (against terrorism)."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
57. So We drove them (Pharaoh and his people) out of gardens and springs,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
58. And treasures and a noble station,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
59. Thus, and We caused to inherit it the Israelites.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
60. They (Pharaoh and his people) pursued them at sunrise.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
61. When the two multitudes sighted each other, the companions of Moses said: "Indeed, We are certainly been overtaken."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
62. (Moses) said: "No indeed, my Lord (Allāh) is with me - He will guide me."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
63. So We inspired to Moses: "Strike the sea with your staff." So it parted, each part became as a huge, firm mass of mountain.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
64. And We drew near thereto the others (Pharaoh and his army),
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
65. And We delivered Moses and who were with him, all.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
66. Then We drowned the others (Pharaoh and his army).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
67. In this there is certainly a sign. Yet most of them were not to be believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
68. And indeed your Lord (Allāh) is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
69. And recite to them (O Muhammad) the story of Abraham.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
70. When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
71. They said: "We worship idols, so we remain ever devoted to them."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
72. He said: "Do they hear you when you invoke (them)?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
73. Or (do they) benefit you or can cause harm?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
74. They said: "Rather, we found our fathers doing so."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
75. He said: "Have you then considered what you have been worshiping,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
76. You and your fathers (of) the old.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
77. Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of all beings (i.e., Allāh).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
78. Who created me, and it is He Who guides me.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
79. And He is the One Who feeds me and gives me drink.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
80. And when I get sick, He heals me4.
4. These are the words of the prophet Abraham, being conscious of his own impotency to cure and heal himself; and being fully satisfied of the power of Allāh to cure and heal him. Sins are also diseases, and healing them lies in the forgiveness of them, which Allāh only can grant. The famous story of the boy and the king recorded in the Sunnah, when the king’s courtier asks the boy to cure his blindness, the boy retorts: “Verily, I cure no one. Only Allāh 'Exalted is He' Who cures. If you believe in Allāh, I will supplicate to Allāh and He will cure you.”
Hence, while the supplication was a means of curing the blindness, the real doer was Allāh alone. By making this known to the courtier, the boy instilled in him the reality of Monotheism. However, this does not mean the action (in this case, healing) cannot be ascribed to the means (in this case, the boy or his supplication). It is correct to make this ascription, as long as the belief that the effort is not the real cause is firmly understood. Jesus also cured the blind and the leprosy and raised from the dead all by Allah's permission and not from Himself. Jesus is nothing without the help of his God and Lord, Allāh and cannot do anything.

119. So We delivered him and those with him in the laden ark10.
10. During Noah's time we see everyone has turned their back on Allāh, except Noah; he worshipped and loved Allāh. Perhaps his amazing obedience was found in his heart of gratitude and what saved and set him and his family apart from those who were wiped out in the great flood. Allāh described him as grateful servant. The Qur’an tells us the people of this time were full of evil and sin, that is why Allāh sent the flood. If the opposite of joyful is sad and the opposite of commitment is refusal, could it be that the people of Noah’s time sadly refused their commitment to Allāh. The root of all sin is ingratitude; it certainly seems to be a great place for the Satan to get a foothold as he did in every person but Noah during this time.
Abraham, the father of many generations, was one whose heart of gratitude almost cost him the life of his beloved son, but Allāh spared Ismael. His commitment to Allāh was greater than any other thing, even his own son. Allāh sparing Ismael shows us how He blessed Abraham’s obedience. Even when he questioned, even when he sought assurance, obedience flowed from Abraham’s heart of gratitude.
We find Moses and the Israelites singing a song of deliverance and praise after Allāh led the Israelites out of Egypt and saved them by parting the Red Sea.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:

167. They said: "If you desist not (your condemnation of sodomy) O Lot, you will surely be of those expelled.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
168. (Lot) said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who abhor (it)."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
169. Lord (Allāh), deliver me and my family from what they do."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
170. So We delivered him and his family, all of them,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
171. Except an old woman (Lot’s wife) among the lagging (who perished).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
172. Then We 'utterly' destroyed the others.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
173. And We showered upon them a rain (of stones). How evil was the rain of those who were warned.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
174. In this there is certainly a sign. Yet most of them were not to be believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
175. And indeed your Lord (Allāh) is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
176. The dwellers of the thicket (Midian) rejected the messengers (of Allāh).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
177. When Shu’aib said to them: "Will you not fear Allāh (and shun evil)?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
178. Indeed, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
179. So fear Allāh, (shun evil) and obey me.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
180. I do not ask you any reward for this (Message), my reward is only with (Allāh) the Lord of all beings.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
181. Give full measure and (do) not be of those who (cheat and) cause loss to others.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
182. And weigh with the even balance.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
183. And do not defraud the people of their things, nor go about in the land, spreading corruption.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
184. And have fear of the One (Allāh) Who created you and the former crowds.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
185. They said: "You are only of those bewitched.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
186. You are not but a human being like us, and we think you are indeed of the liars."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
187. So cause a fragment of the sky to fall down upon us, if you are of the truthful.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
188. (Shu’aib) said: "My Lord (Allāh) knows best what you do."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
189. But they denied him, so the torment of the Day of the overshadowing cloud seized them; surely it was the torment of a tremendous Day.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
190. In this there is certainly a sign. Yet most of them were not to be believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
191. And indeed your Lord (Allāh) is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
192. And indeed it (Qur’an) is surely a (revelation) sent down from (Allāh) the Lord of all beings.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
193. The trustworthy spirit (Gabriel) has come down with it.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
194. Upon your heart (Muhammad), that you may be of the warners.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
195. In a clear Arabic tongue (language).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
196. And surely it is (mentioned)13 in the Scriptures of former people14.
13. The Qur’ân, and its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad.
14. I.e., The Torah and the Gospel.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
197. Was it not a sign to them (the pagans) that the scholars of the children of Israel knew about it15?
15. E.g., Abdullah ibn Salām, a Jewish scholar, who accepted Islam during the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ), for he knew that he came with a true message from God.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
198. And if We Had sent it down (this Qur’an) to some of the non-Arabs,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
199. Then he had recited to them, they (the pagans) would not have been believers in it.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
200. Thus We have inserted it (disbelief) into the hearts of the guilty.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
201. They will not believe in it - until they see the painful torment.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
202. And it will come to them all of a sudden, while they do not perceive it,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
203. So they say: "Are we (to be) reprieved (that we might reform ourselves)?"
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
204. So is it for Our torment that they seek to hasten?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
205. Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
206. Then comes to them what they had been promised (of retributive punishment),
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
207. what would avail them the enjoyments that they were given?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
208. And We did not destroy any town except that it had (its) warners.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
209. As a reminder, and We have never been unjust.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
210. And the devils have not been coming down with it (the Qur’an).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
211. Neither would it suit them, nor are they able (to produce its like).
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
212. Surely they are debarred from over hearing (to anything from the heaven)16.
16. As mentioned in Q: 72:9.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
213. So do not ever invoke besides Allāh any other God - or you will be one of the punished.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
214. And warn your closest relatives17.
17. Of the impending punishment of God.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
215. And lower your wing (in kindness) to those who follow you of the believers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
216. But if they disobey you, then say: "I am disassociated of what you are doing."
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
217. And put your trust in (Allāh alone) the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
218. He Who sees you when you stand up (for prayer),
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
219. And (sees) your movements among those who prostrate themselves.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
220. Surely He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
221. Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the devils descend?
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
222. They (constantly) come down upon every sinful liar,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
223. eavesdropping18, and most of them are liars19.
18. I.e., overhear to what the angels on high may say of the revealed unseen and whisper it to their sinful human agents. This was before they were prevented, as described in Q 72:8-9.
19. I.e., the soothsayers and fortune tellers.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
224. As for the poets20, they are followed by the deviators.
20. Islam encourages good wholesome poetry, which inspires one towards the fear of God, towards His awe and obedience, and towards anything that is good and made permissible by God and His messenger. What is forbidden is poetry and songs that does nothing but instigates and encourages indecency, illegal lusts and desires, and inspires one towards the transgression of the boundaries of Islam.
Muhammad, God's Messenger said, "It is better for anyone of you that the inside of his body be filled with pus which may consume his body, than it be filled with poetry."
The Messenger of God did not like poets and poetry, which sensationalized and encouraged the pursuit of the world and its alluring lusts. But he encouraged those poets whose poetry praised God, contained words of wisdom which related to the Guidance to God.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
225. Have you not see that they wander aimlessly in every valley21?
21. Telling lies indiscriminately, praising some, and defaming others.
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
226. And that they say what they do not do,
ߊߙߊߓߎߞߊ߲ߡߊ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊ ߟߎ߬:
227. Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, remember Allāh often, and defend themselves after being wronged. And those who work iniquity22 will soon know as to what place of return they shall return23.
22. By associating others with Allāh, or committing other deadly sins.
23. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the orphans; plead the case of the widow. We must work for righteousness and justice if we are to be true to our Islamic faith.
