39. That is of what your Lord has revealed to you of Wisdom. Do not set up any other god with Allāh lest you should be thrown into Gehinnom 'Hell', blameworthy, banished.
40. (Pagans), has your Lord (Allāh) distinguished you out to have sons and taken from among the angels females (daughters)22? Indeed, you are surely saying a grave saying.
22. Considering their preferring male over female children, their claim that Allāh Almighty took daughters, while they themselves are given sons is refuted. How they attribute to Allāh, the Omnipotent Creator, what they do not accept for themselves, claiming that the angels are God's daughters.
41. We have certainly varied (the examples) in this Qur’an that they may take heed, but it does not increase them (i e., the deniers) except in aversion.
42. Say (Muhammad): "Had there been other gods with Him, as they say, then, they would have sought a way to 'challenge' the Lord of the (great) Throne."
44. The seven heavens, the earth, and whatever is in them glorify Him; there is not a single thing that does not glorify and praise Him, but you do not understand their praise and glorification. Indeed, He is Most Forbearing, All-Forgiving.
46. We have placed coverings on their hearts lest they understand it 'this Qur’an', and deafness in their ears. When you mention your Lord alone in the Qur’an, they turn their backs in aversion.
47. We know best what they listen to it23 when they listen to you, and when they are in private counsel, when the unjust say: "You follow none but a man bewitched."
23. The Qur’an, it means that their listening to the Qur’an is interceded with bad intention, to find fault, and is not purely meant to reach an understanding.
49. They (the pagans) say (in denial of the Resurrection): "When we are bones and decayed particles (of dust), shall we then be raised up (from the dead), being a new creation?"
