Translation of the meanings Surah: An-Naba’   Ayah:

An-Naba’

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
1. About what are they (the pagans and deniers) asking one another?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
2. About the great News, (the Day of Resurrection and this Qur'an)?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ
3. That which they differ about?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
4. But no, they will soon come to know,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
5. Then no, they will soon come to know (reality).

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا
6. Have We not made the earth as a flat resting place?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا
7. And the mountains as pegs (therein)?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا
8. Have We not created you in pairs,

وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا
9. And made your sleep a means for rest,

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا
10. And made the night as a covering (in its darkness),
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا
11. And made the day for seeking livelihood.

وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا
12. Have We not constructed above you seven strong (heavens, one above the other),

وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا
13. And made (the sun) a burning lamp,

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا
14. And sent down from the rain clouds water pouring forth abundantly -

لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا
15. That We may bring forth thereby grains and vegetation,

وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا
16. And gardens of thick growth?

إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا
17. Verily, the Day of Judgment is an appointed tim.

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا
18. The Day the trumpet is blown, then you will come forth in multitudes,

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا
19. And the sky will be opened up so that it will become gateways.

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا
20. And the mountains will be moved off, becoming like a mirage.

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا
21. Gehinnom (Hell) lies in wait (for its prey) -

لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا
22. A Home for the transgressors.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا
23. They will abide therein for ages.

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا
24. Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink -

إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا
25. Except scalding water and (foul) pus,

جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا
26. A fitting recompense (for their deeds).
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا
27. They were not expecting a Reckoning,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا
28. And persistently denied Our verses (of the Qur'an) a complete denial.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا
29. But We have enumerated everything (of what they did) in writing.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
30. So taste (the Torment), for We shall not increase you except in suffering.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
31. For the righteous is attainment¹,
1. I.e., safety from Hell and an entry to Paradise.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا
32. Gardens and vineyards,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا
33. And beautiful luscious maidens, with the freshness of youth, equals in age,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا
34. And a cup full (of pure wine).
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّٰبٗا
35. They will not hear therein (in the Paradise) any vain words nor lying -
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا
36. A Reward from (Allah) your Lord, a Gift, (amply) sufficient.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا
37. The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Most Compassionate (Allah). None shall have power to speak to Him (on the Day of Judgment, except after His Permission).

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا
38. The Day that the spirit (i.e., Gabriel) and the angels will stand in rows; they will not speak (before Him) except he whom (Allah) the Most Compassionate permits, and who speaks only what is right and just.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
39. That is the inevitable Day! So whoever wills, let him take the (right) Way (of Islam) that leads towards his Lord (Allah).
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا
40. We have warned you of the approaching Torment - the Day when man will see what (good or evil deeds) his two hands have sent forth, and the denier will say: "Woe to me, would that I were mere dust!"
