89. Allāh does not hold you accountable for your unintentional oaths [66], but He will hold you accountable for what you deliberately contracted [of] the oath. So its expiation is to feed ten needy people with food similar to what you normally feed your own people, or to clothe them, or to set a slave free. Whoever cannot find any of these, he must fast for three days. That is the expiation [for breaking] your oaths when you swear. Be mindful of your oaths [67]. Thus does Allāh make His verses clear to you, so that you may be grateful. info

90 : 5

90. O believers, intoxicants [68], gambling [69], [sacrificing on] stone altars, and divining by arrows [for seeking luck or decisions] are only abominations—Satan’s handiwork. So shun them, that you may succeed. info

[68]. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “God has cursed wine, its drinker, its server, its seller, its buyer, its presser, the one for whom it is pressed, the one who serves it, and the one to whom it is served.”
[69]. Gambling is playing games of chance for money. It’s a risky wager, where you stake something of value (usually your money) on the outcome of a game.
Types of gambling vary. For example, there’s the lottery, where you buy a lottery ticket for a small amount and if you happen to pick the lucky numbers, you could win millions. There’s also sports betting, where you bet on the outcome of a race or game, such as a horse, dog race or cock fighting, and your winnings vary depending on how your pick performs. Casino gambling encompasses games of chance and skill played at tables and machines, at a luxurious resort or a small card room. Online gambling is also on the rise. Some people might win big when gambling and then stop. Others win, then lose, then risk more and more money gambling until they have gotten themselves into a difficult situation. Some people with gambling problems have been known to cash their paycheck and try to double it by gambling — only if they lose, they’ve lost their entire paycheck. It’s evil when people are gambling extra money, but when their family is depending on that paycheck, consequences can be disastrous. That is why Islam prohibited gambling of all kinds.
Dishonest or hasty money - like get-rich-quick schemes - quickly disappears, whereas lawful earnings acquired gradually grow. We are supposed to acquire money by working for it. The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat. We are supposed to be Allah’s servants, tending the land and cultivating it. All that we possess is only because Allāh has provided it for us, and we are meant to share what we have with others through charity—not squander it through gambling.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "Whoever amongst you swears, (saying by error) in his oath 'By so and so', then he should say, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allāh.' And whoever says to his companions, 'Come let me gamble' with you, then he must give something in charity (as an expiation for such a sin)."
