1 : 18

1. All praise be to Allāh [1], Who has sent down the Book to His servant, and has made in it no crookedness [2]. info

[1]. It is a glorification of Allāh, the Almighty, for all His favors — both hidden and apparent — whether related to faith or to worldly life. The greatest of all these blessings is His revelation of the Qur’an to His most honored servant, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
[2]. He has made it perfectly straight and flawless — a true and clear guide, free from contradiction or deviation — for all humankind and jinn.

2. [A Qur’an] most upright, to warn of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have an excellent reward [Paradise]. info

4. And to warn those who say, “Allāh has taken to Himself a son [3].” info

[3]. This refers to those who have deviated by ascribing offspring to Allāh — such as the Christians who claim that Jesus is the son of God, and the pagans who allege that the angels are the daughters of God. Exalted is He, far above what they ascribe to Him. To claim that Allāh has a child is to imply resemblance between the Creator and the creation — suggesting partnership in divinity and a need for companionship to fulfill emotional or physical desires. Yet the Lord of the heavens and the earth is utterly free from all such imperfection. He is the Self-Sufficient, upon Whom all depend; He neither begets nor is begotten, and there is none comparable to Him. Thus, this stands as a clear warning against associating any being with Allāh, affirming the absolute oneness of God and transcendence of the Almighty — beyond need, or offspring.
