135 : 4

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُونُواْ قَوَّٰمِينَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَوِ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَۚ إِن يَكُنۡ غَنِيًّا أَوۡ فَقِيرٗا فَٱللَّهُ أَوۡلَىٰ بِهِمَاۖ فَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ أَن تَعۡدِلُواْۚ وَإِن تَلۡوُۥٓاْ أَوۡ تُعۡرِضُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٗا

135. O believers, stand firmly for justice ^[58], bearing witness for Allah’s Sake, even if it is against yourselves, your parents or your near relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allāh is more worthy of both. So do not follow [personal] inclination, lest you deviate. If you distort your testimony or refuse to give it, then [know that] Allāh is ever All-Aware of what you do ^[59].

[58]. This reinforces the main principle on which the believing community is built: justice to all.
[59]. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked about the grave sins. He said, They are:
a) To join others in worship with Allâh.
b) To be undutiful to one’s parents.
c) To kill a person (which Allâh has forbidden to be killed i.e.murder).
d) And to give a false witness.

136 : 4

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ ءَامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ وَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا

136. O believers, believe steadfastly in Allāh, His Messenger [Muhammad], the Book [Qur’an] He has sent down to His Messenger, and the Scriptures which He sent down from before. Whoever denies Allah, His angels, His Scriptures, His Messengers, or the Last Day has indeed gone far astray.

137 : 4

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ ٱزۡدَادُواْ كُفۡرٗا لَّمۡ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا لِيَهۡدِيَهُمۡ سَبِيلَۢا

137. Indeed, those who believe then disbelieve, then believe and again disbelieve, then increase in disbelief, never will Allāh forgive them nor guide them to a [right] way.

138 : 4

بَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

138. Announce to the hypocrites that they will have a painful punishment:

139 : 4

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۚ أَيَبۡتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعٗا

139. Those who take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers - do they seek honor with them? Then [know that] all honor [power and glory] belong to Allāh ^[60].

[60]. Being the source of all power and honor, Allāh grants them to whom He wills.

140 : 4

وَقَدۡ نَزَّلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أَنۡ إِذَا سَمِعۡتُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يُكۡفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسۡتَهۡزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقۡعُدُواْ مَعَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُواْ فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيۡرِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا مِّثۡلُهُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ جَامِعُ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا

140. He has already sent down to you in the Book [Qur’an] that when you hear Allah’s Verses being denied and mocked, do not sit with them until they engage into some other discourse; otherwise you would be then like them ^[61]. Allāh will surely gather the hypocrites and the disbelievers all together in Gehinnom 'Hell'.

[61]. In this world, by participation in their blasphemy, and in the next, where you will share their punishment. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
