171 : 4

يَٰٓأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغۡلُواْ فِي دِينِكُمۡ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَقَّۚ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلۡقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ وَرُوحٞ مِّنۡهُۖ فَـَٔامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦۖ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ ثَلَٰثَةٌۚ ٱنتَهُواْ خَيۡرٗا لَّكُمۡۚ إِنَّمَا ٱللَّهُ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞۖ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٞۘ لَّهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلٗا

171. O followers of the Scripture [Jews and Christians], do not go to extremes in your faith [and deeds] ^[77], and do not speak anything about Allāh except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allāh - and His word which He conveyed to Mary, and a spirit [created by His Command]. So believe in Allāh and His messengers, and do not say, [God is] three ^[78]." Desist - it is better for you. Truly, Allāh is only One God; Glory be to Him- that He should have a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth. And Allāh is sufficient as Trustee.

[77]. Such as attributing divine qualaties to certain creations of Allāh or revering them excessively.The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: ''Do not exaggerate in praising me as Christians praised the son of Mary, for I am only a servant. So, call me the servant of God and His messenger." Out of his concern for pristine monotheism and fear that his followers would lapse into associating partners with Allāh like previous nations, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned Muslims against exaggerating in praising him, as Christians did concerning Jesus by giving him divine attributes and calling him God or the son of God, thus falling into idolatry. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ further said, "Describe me as the servant of God and the carrier of His message, just as He, Exalted be He, described me. Do not transgress the limits by raising me to a station of divinity or lordship as the Christians did with regard to Jesus." Divinity is exclusive to Allāh alone.
[78]. The Christians claim that God is one being and three persons: God the Father, God the son, and God the holy spirit.
They claim that Jesus is the "son of God", "God the son", "God incarnate", or the second "person" in the unholy Trinity. This necessarily reduces God "Allāh" to being one third of the Trinity. In truth, nowhere in the Gospels does Jesus make such claims for himself, nor, for that matter, is there any mention of the Trinity. In fact, Jesus always spoke of himself as the "son of man, and the servant of God."

172 : 4

لَّن يَسۡتَنكِفَ ٱلۡمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبۡدٗا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَۚ وَمَن يَسۡتَنكِفۡ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيَسۡتَكۡبِرۡ فَسَيَحۡشُرُهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِ جَمِيعٗا

172. The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of Allāh, nor would the angels who draw near to Him. Whosoever disdains His worship, and acts arrogantly - He will gather them all together before Himself.

173 : 4

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمۡ أُجُورَهُمۡ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦۖ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَنكَفُواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيّٗا وَلَا نَصِيرٗا

173. So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards and grant them even more out of His bounty. But those who disdained His worship and were arrogant, He will punish them with a painful punishment, and they will find for themselves no protector or helper besides Allāh

174 : 4

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُم بُرۡهَٰنٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَأَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ نُورٗا مُّبِينٗا

174. O people, there has come to you a clear Proof [the Prophet Muhammad] from your Lord, and we have sent down to you a shining Light [this Qur’an].

175 : 4

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱعۡتَصَمُواْ بِهِۦ فَسَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ فِي رَحۡمَةٖ مِّنۡهُ وَفَضۡلٖ وَيَهۡدِيهِمۡ إِلَيۡهِ صِرَٰطٗا مُّسۡتَقِيمٗا

175. As for those who believe in Allāh and hold fast to Him, He will admit them into His mercy and bounty ^[79] and guide them to Himself on a straight path.

[79]. I.e., Paradise.
