141 : 4

141. Those who wait and watch about you, then if you have a victory from Allāh they say: "Were we not with you?" If there is a chance [of victory] for the disbelievers, they say: "Did we not help you win, and protect you from the believers?" So Allāh will Judge between [all of] you on the Day of Resurrection, and never will Allāh give the disbelievers a way [62] against the believers. info

142 : 4

142. Indeed, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allāh, but it is He who [causes their] deceit [to return upon] them. Whenever they stand up for prayer, they stand up lazily, showing off [to] the people; and they do not remember Allāh except a little [63]. info

[63]. This is related to their engagement in the remembrance of Allāh during prayers; they do not mention Allāh with their tongues, their hearts and body parts are not humbled, and their minds are wandering. This is because what is in their hearts is not to please Allāh, but rather to please the people.

143 : 4

143. Wavering between this and that, neither [belonging] to these (believers) nor to those [disbelievers] [64]. Whoever Allāh leaves astray, you will never find a way [of Guidance] for them. info

[64]. The hypocrites live in a state of perpetual doubt and constant perplexity, so they are always experiencing a state of dilemma.

144 : 4

144. O believers, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allāh clear authority against you? info

145 : 4

145. Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire [65], and you will never find for them a helper. info

[65]. Hell is a place of divine judgment for sinners, with varying degrees of punishment based on several factors in a person’s life. These include the extent to which one surrendered to sin, the influence one had on others to commit sin, and the knowledge of the truth one possessed and rejected. This does not mean that any punishment in Hell will be less than complete, but the Qur’an indicates that some will endure greater suffering or bear a fiercer measure of Allah’s wrath.

146 : 4

146. Except those who repent, and amend their ways, hold fast to Allāh, and are sincere in their faith [and deeds] for Allāh alone - for these are with the believers. And Allāh will grant the believers a great Reward. info

147. Why would Allāh punish you if you are grateful and faithful? For Allāh is ever Appreciative [66], All-Knowing. info

[66]. For your repentance, self-discipline, and good deeds, you will be abundantly rewarded.
