111 : 16

۞ يَوۡمَ تَأۡتِي كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ تُجَٰدِلُ عَن نَّفۡسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

111.  [Remember] the Day when every soul will come pleading for itself, and every soul will be fully recompensed for what it has done, and none shall be wronged. info

112 : 16

وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلٗا قَرۡيَةٗ كَانَتۡ ءَامِنَةٗ مُّطۡمَئِنَّةٗ يَأۡتِيهَا رِزۡقُهَا رَغَدٗا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٖ فَكَفَرَتۡ بِأَنۡعُمِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَذَٰقَهَا ٱللَّهُ لِبَاسَ ٱلۡجُوعِ وَٱلۡخَوۡفِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَصۡنَعُونَ

112. Allāh sets forth an example: a town that was once safe and secure, its provisions coming to it abundantly from every direction. But it became ungrateful for Allah’s favors —so Allāh made it taste enveloping hunger and fear because of what they used to do [41]. info

[41]. This is a direct warning to the people - they are being warned against Divine Retribution in this worldly life as much as they have just been warned against the one in the Hereafter.

113 : 16

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ وَهُمۡ ظَٰلِمُونَ

113. Indeed, a messenger from among themselves came to them, but they denied him; so the punishment seized them [42] while they were wrongdoers. info

[42]. By hunger and fear.

114 : 16

فَكُلُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَٰلٗا طَيِّبٗا وَٱشۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِيَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ

114. So eat of what Allāh has provided for you —lawful and wholesome things —and be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is truly Him alone that you worship. info

115 : 16

إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحۡمَ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦۖ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٖ وَلَا عَادٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

115. He has only forbidden you carrion, blood [43], the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is compelled by necessity —neither desiring it nor exceeding due limits —then surely Allāh is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. info

[43]. I.e., flowing blood, not what remains in blood vessels after the slaughter.

116 : 16

وَلَا تَقُولُواْ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلۡسِنَتُكُمُ ٱلۡكَذِبَ هَٰذَا حَلَٰلٞ وَهَٰذَا حَرَامٞ لِّتَفۡتَرُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ لَا يُفۡلِحُونَ

116. Do not say, because of the lies your tongues fabricate, “This is lawful and this is unlawful,” in order to invent falsehood against Allāh. Surely, those who forge lies against Allāh will never succeed. info

117 : 16

مَتَٰعٞ قَلِيلٞ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

117. [It is only] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment. info

وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ حَرَّمۡنَا مَا قَصَصۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَمَا ظَلَمۡنَٰهُمۡ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ

118. To those who became Jews, We prohibited what We have already related to you [O Muhammad] before [44]. We did not wrong them—rather, they wronged themselves. info

[44]. See chapter 6 verse 146.
