[46]. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, quarrel and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Allāh forgive your sins.
[47]. Those who excel in their worship of their sole Creator — Allāh — are those who also strive to do good deeds.
Therefore, be ever mindful of Allāh and keep your hearts focused on Him alone.
You must cleanse yourselves of all that He has forbidden: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed, theft, and deceit.
For because of such sins, the wrath of Allāh descends upon those who persist in wrongdoing. Likewise, remove from your lives all traces of anger, rage, malice, slander, lying, and filthy speech. These corrupt the soul and darken the heart. Instead, follow the example of our noble Prophet — Muḥammad ﷺ, the final Messenger of God — and clothe yourselves with the virtues he embodied: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with one another in mercy, and forgive each other, if any of you has a grievance against another. Forgive as Allāh forgive you out of His boundless mercy.
And above all these virtues, embrace love —for love binds them all together in perfect harmony and unity.
This verse beautifully captures the balance of Islam: Purity of worship through devotion and worship to Allāh alone, and purity of character through compassion and forgiveness toward others.
To worship Allāh truly is to reflect His mercy in our actions. Faith in the heart must blossom as goodness in the world.
